LOUISVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony High School broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run second then had to come back in the top of the seventh to pull out a 7-6 win over North Clay (Louisville) in baseball competition Thursday.

North Clay came back with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the score at 5-5. The Cardinals then pushed ahead with a run in the sixth.

St. Anthony mounted a comeback as Braden Puckett was hit by a pitch followed by a single by Eric Gurtner. Alex Hoelscher drew a base on balls. Puckett scored on a passed ball and Gurtner took third. Austin Bushur then singled home the winning run with a single.

At Teutopolis

This one was over almost before it started as Teutopolis pounded home 17 runs in the first inning and went on for a 17-1 win over Dieterich.

The Wooden Shoes banged out 16 hits while Ungrund and A. Borries combined to pitch a two-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts.

C. Will, D. Probst and B. Wenthe had a single and double each. Wenthe drove in three runs while Will and Probst had two RBI each. A. Goldstein added a single, triple and an RBI while T. Flach had two singles and an RBI.

T. Traub led Dieterich with a double.

This one was a pitcher's dual as Patoka edged Brownstown/St. Elmo 1-0 at Bob Page Field Thursday.

Johnnie Clift picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with one walk and seven strikeouts. Levi Maxey suffered the loss to drop to 2-1, throwing a six-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Belcher led Patoka with three singles. Brownstown/St. Elmo drops to 2-1 in the Egyptian-Illini Conference, 4-4 overall.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick ended the game in the fifth inning over Ramsey by the 10-run rule, 12-1.

Austin Rexroad pitched the win, allowoing one run, on one hit while striking out 11. Cody Grove had a single, doubel and drove in two runs for thew inners while Rexroad and Austin Shelton had two singles eahc. Rexroad added three RBI.

BCCH finishes teh Egyptian -Illini Conference seaosn with a 2-2 record and is 2-4 overall. The Eagles return to action Satudrya in the North Clay Classic against North Clay at 11:30 a.m.
