EJHS Improves to 12-1, Area Junior High Baseball Roundup

The Effingham Junior High School Mustangs improved their record to 12-1 with a 15-2 win over Apollo Conference foe Charleston Thursday in baseball competition.

Brett Koester earned the win and had a single, two home runs and three RBI. Also hitting for the Mustangs were Ryan Sandifer with a single, home run and two RBI, Alec Morrissey with two singles, a triple and two RBI, Adam Levitt with two singles and three RBI and Dylan Busher with a single and an RBI.

Effingham will be back in action today against Dieterich at 4 p.m.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis bounced Salem to the tune of 13-5 behind a 13-hit attack Thursday.

The score was knotted at 3-3 after three innings and Salem held a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth but T-town came roaring back with five runs and finished out with five in the sixth.

Collin Funneman had a single, a solo home run and two RBI while Ethyn Dust had two singles, a double and three RBI and Eric Kramer three singles and three RBI.

Funneman pitched five innings allowing four runs, three hits, three walks and six strikeouts.  Dust came on in relief and pitched two innings allowing one run, three hits, two walks and striking out four.

Altamont stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and went on for a 12-1 win over Beecher City. Alek Biggs pitched a three-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts.
