Neoga High School had a five-run second and went on to defeat Effingham St. Anthony 5-2 in baseball action Thursday.

The Bulldogs tallied their two runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Zack Monroe pitched a four-hitter as Neoga improved to 1-0.

St. Anthony drops to 1-1 on the season and will play at Webber Township (Bluford) Saturday. Neoga will be in the Teutopolis Invitational Saturday.

At Kinmundy

South Central broke a 0-0 tie with a two-run third and then tallied nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game 11-0 via the 10-run rule over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor Thursday evening.

Dylen Peters pitched a four-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts. Tyler Ross hit a three-run homer in the fifth to end the game and finished with four RBI and another hit, a single. Kyle Bray had two singles, a double and drove in three runs while Tyus Holmes had a single, double and two RBI.

Stew-Stras/Windsor was led by Bugger with a double.

Byers pitched a one-hitter with three walks and seven strikeouts. Byers also aided his own cause with a single and double. Britton added a triple

Brownstown/St. Elmo's lone hit was a single by Nate Matthews. The homestanders drop to 1-1 on the season.
