Cardinals Down Braves, Cubs Can't Hold Lead, White Sox Get Clobbered

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Adam Wainwright struck out nine in a complete game to pace the Cardinals to a 3-1 win over the Braves in St. Louis.  Wainwright allowed the one run as he improved to 15-and-7 on the season.  Matt Holliday lifted a solo homer for St. Louis, which has won six-of-seven.  Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with two runs in the win.  Freddie Freeman was 2-for-4 with the lone RBI for Atlanta, which has lost three-of-four.  Kris Medlen allowed three runs in six-plus innings for the loss.

>>Padres Storm Back On Cubs

(San Diego, CA)  --  The Padres climbed out of an early six-run hole to claim an 8-6 victory over the Cubs at Petco Park.  Jedd Gyorko bashed a three-run homer and later added a solo shot for San Diego, which has won four out of six.  Will Venable had a two-run triple and a solo homer while Logan Forsythe knocked in a run with a triple.  Nick Vincent picked up the win in relief while Huston Street logged his 25th save.  Nate Schierholtz hit a three-run homer and Junior Lake was 3-for-5 in the loss for Chicago.  James Russell took the loss in relief as the Cubs lost their fourth straight.

>>Rangers Hammer Pale Hose

(Chicago, IL)  --  Adrian Beltre and Ian Kinsler each hit solo homers as the Rangers cruised by the White Sox to an 11-5 victory in Chicago.  Kinsler knocked in two while Jeff Baker and Mitch Moreland each hit a two-run blast.  Adam Rosales nailed a three-run shot for Texas, which has won four straight.  Martin Perez gave up four runs in seven innings and improved to 7-and-3.  Dayan Viciedo and Gordon Beckham each knocked in two runs for Chicago, which saw a season-high six-game winning streak end.  Chris Sale was tagged for eight runs in seven innings as he fell to 9-and-12.
