Cumberland Pounds Blue Ridge In Lone Baseball Contest

BLUE RIDGE -- Three pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter as Cumberland pounded Blue Ridge, 18-1 in three high school baseball innings Thursday.

The Pirates took a 4-0 opening inning lead. They pushed that to 7-0 in the second and then ended the game with 11 in the third.

Kade McMechan started the contest and went two innings, allowing one walk while striking out four. Grant Keyser came on to throw a tenth of an inning, giving up one run with two walks and one strikeout and Gavin Keyser also threw a tenth of an inning, with no runs, no hits, and no walks.

Meanwhile the Pirates had their hitting shoes on. Kade McMechan hit two doubles and drove in a run while Isaac Venatta and Maddox Miller had a double and two RBI each. Grant Keyser had a double and an RBI. Hudson McElravy finished with a single and three RBI and Bryson Weber had two singles. Grady Jones added a triple. Zach Hougham, Harley Pierce and Ty Ralston finished with a single and an RBI each.
