Teutopolis, BSE, North Clay Win In H.S. Baseball

CASEY -- Teutopolis struck quickly and early in a 13-1 victory over Casey-Westfield, ending the contest in the sixth inning of high school baseball Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes brought home five runs in the first inning, then tacked on two more in the second and ended the contest with five in the sixth.

Coach Justin Fleener's crew pounded out 12 hits led by Dawson Hoene with two singles, a double and two RBI. Michael Niebrugge added a single, double and two RBI while Cooper Tegeler had a single, double and one RBI. Jason Kreke finished with two singles and an RBI. Gavin Addis chipped in with a single and drove in two runs while Henry Thompson added a single and an RBI.

Andrew Probst got his first win of the season on the mound. He went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, one walk and striking out two.

Both teams had four errors. Casey-Westfield went through six pitchers. The Warriors dropped to 2-4 on the season.

T-town improved to 5-1 and will be back in action today at Fairfield.

At Martinsville

Brownstown/St. Elmo went on a scoring binge Thursday as the Bombers blew out Martinsville 19-3 in five innings Thursday.

The Bombers took a 5-0 opening inning lead then had three-run innings in the second, third and fourth and finished with five in the fifth.

Gavin Sanders led BSE in hitting with two singles and two RBI. Lane Stine had a single and three RBI. Lucas Powell added a single and two RBI.

The Bombers improved to 2-2 on the season and will be back in action today against Okaw Valley.

North Clay/Clay City tallied a victory over Edwards County (Albion) in Thursday action.

The Cardinals won 11-3 and improved to 4-3 on the season.

North Clay is back in action Saturday at Arcola in a 10 a.m. contest.
