Mid-Illinois Concrete Wins Junior Title, Taylor Law, JCR Carpentry Advance To Prep League Championship

Mid-Illinois Concrete edged Midland States Bank 3-2 to win the championship of the Junior Babe Ruth League Tournament Wednesday evening at Paul Smith Field.

Mid-Illinois Concrete stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead then tacked on what would prove to be the winning run, in the sixth. Midland States Bank attempted a comeback with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Kyle Smith picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter. Smith had a single and drove in a run.

Nick Grunloh led Midland States Bank with a two singles, a double and an RBI.

BABE RUTH PREP LEAGUE

Taylor Law and JCR Carpentry advanced to the championship game of the Babe Ruth Prep League with victories Wednesday evening at Evergreen Hollow Park.

Taylor Law won the opening game while JCR Carpentry defeated Tingley Insurance 6-4 to take the second game.

The championship game is scheduled tonight at 7.
