Cardinals' Arenado Invokes No-Trade Clause

Nolan Arenado, the St. Louis Cardinals' third baseman, invokved his no-trade clause.

There was a deal that would have sen him on to the Houston Asros, but Arenado blocked that deal., ESPN confirmed Wednesday the news that was reported by MLB.com.

The Astros wanted Arenado after they had traded outfielder Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs. Alex Bregman, the Astros' third baseman, could leave in free agency.

Arenado, 33, is an eight-time All-Star and is among the game's best players at third base.

He finished with a .272 average and had 16 home runs and drove in 71 runs for the Cardnials during the past season. He's been with the Cardinals four years.
