St. A, Altamont Lutheran Headed To State Tournaments

The Bullpups edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning then tacked on two runs in the fifth and finished with one in the seventh. Sacred Heart's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh.
Both teams had four hits. St. Anthony was led by Curtis Tingley with a single and an RBI and Charlie Hoene added an RBI.
Hoene was the winner on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, three walks while striking out eight.
The Shamrocks were led by Logan Roedl with two singles. Sacred Heart committed four errors.
St. Anthony advances with a 20-1 record to compete Friday at the Class 1A State Tournament in Eastside Centre at East Peoria. The Bullpups will meet Roanoke-Benson (18-6) at 2 p.m.
Other teams at the State Tournament are Colchester West Prairie (20-2), Paris Crestwood (16-2), Bloomington Corpus Christi (19-5), St. Anne (9-9), Springfield Blessed Sacrament (20-2) and Joliet St. Raymond (15-8). The tournament will finish with the semifinals and finals on Saturday with the third place game at 2 p.m. and the champoinship at 4 p.m.

Altamont Lutheran Interparish is headed to the Class S State Tournament..
ALIS handed Central City an 8-1 loss to advance.
Altamont Lutheran will now face Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Class S State Tournament at City Park in Coulterville.
Other members of the field include Century, Summersville, Galatia, Red Bud St. John's Lutheran, Valmeyer and a Region 8 Winner.
The winners of the opening round will meet in semifinal action October 8 with the championship and third place games scheduled for October 10.
