Effingham St. Anthony and Sigel St. Michael advanced to the championship game of the Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Baseball Regional.

The Bullpups pounded Mattoon St. John's by a 15-0 count in three innings Wednesday.

Charlie Hoene threw a no-hitter without allowing a walk and striking out two.

Meanwhile, St.Anthony finished with seven hits led by James Trupiano with two singles, Liam McAllister with a single and three RBI, Curtis Tingley with a single and two RBI, Hoene and Charlie Bierman with a single and an RBI each and Blake Verdeyen with two RBI.

In the other contest, Sigel St. Michael won over Neoga, 7-2.

St. Anthony now meets Sigel St. Michael at 10 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.

Class 2A Marshall Regional

Casey-Westfield edged Lawrenceville Parkview 5-4 in Wednesday action.

Casey-Westfield advances to the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m. and will take on either Cumberland or Marshall. Those two teams play today.

 

Class 2A Teutopolis

Sullivan edged Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 5-4 in 10 innings Wednesday.

The two teams played to a 2-2 opening inning tie. They battled tooth-and-nail into extra innings before Sullivan scored a run in the 10th inning for the 5-4 win.

The Redskins edged ahead 4-2 in the third. Stew-Stras came back with a run in the fifth and tied in the seventh.

The Redskins got a leadoff walk in the 10th. A stolenbase advanced the winning run to second. After a strikeout, Cummings singled in the winning run.

Sullivan advances to the championship game and will meet either Teutopolis or Shelbyville Moulton at 10 a.m. Saturday. Those two teams play today at 4 p.m. at T-town.

Class 1A South Central Regional

Two games are scheduled for today that will decide who advances to the championship game Saturday.

Effingham Sacred Heart meets North Clay (Louisville) at 4:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart while South Central takes on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at Farina, also at 4:30 p.m.

The winners will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday for the regional title.
