CHBC, North Clay Nab H.S. Baseball Wins

BEECHER CITY -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City blanked Mulberry Grove by a 10-0 count in five high school baseball innings Thursday.

Clive Schlanser had quite the day for the Bobcats. Schlanser threw a no-hitter, going five innings, striking out six and walking only two.

Schlanser then led the way offensively with a double and an RBI. Connor Vaughn had two singles. Hunter Pope added an RBI.

Neither team scored in the opening inning. The Bobcats then tallied single runs in the second and third then broke the game open with an eight-run fourth.

At Beecher City

At Louisville

North Clay/Clay City broke a 5-5 tie with Teutopolis in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs for a 12-5 victory Thursday.

The Cardinals held a 3-2 opening inning lead but T-town moved ahead in the top of the second 5-3. North Clay tied in the bottom of the frame and that's where it stood until the sixth.

North Clay/Clay City had five hits as Cayden Craig had a single, double and three RBI, Gavin Hosselton a single and an RBI, Cody Zimdars two RBI and Ian Jones, Trenton Ingram and Gavin Hosselton an RBI each.

The Cardinals took advantage of a Wooden Shoes error and 12 walks. North Clay improved to 9-3 on the season and Ian Jones improved his pitching mark to 3-0.

T-town was led by Michael NIebrugge with a single, two doubles and an RBI, Davin Worman a single and two RBI, Aidan Niemerg two singles and Austin Borries an RBI. The Wooden Shoes dropped to 13-2.

Both teams return to action Saturday as North Clay hosts its Cardinal Classic. North Clay will meet Dieterich at 9 a.m. while T-town takes on  Altamont at 11 a.m. The losers will play for third at 1 p.m. with the winners meeting for the championshp at 3.
