FLORA -- Effingham St. Anthony blanked Flora Floyd Henson by a 5-0 count in Monday's junior high baseball contest.

The Bullpups edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning and tacked on two in the third and two in the fifth.

Charlie Hoene threw a three-hitter with one walk and three strikeouts in seven innings.

Curtis Tingley had a single and double. Blake Verdeyen and Charlie Bierman had two singles each. Verdeyen added an RBI. Liam McAllister had a single and an RBI and Hoene an RBI.

At Dieterich

Dieterich played host to Altamont and captured an 11-6 victory Monday.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 after two innings before Altamont moved ahead 5-3 in the third. Dieterich came back to knot the score at 5-5. Altamont regained the lead with a run in the top of the fifth but Dieterich put the game away with a six-run bottom of the fifth.

Dieterich had nine hits led by Goeckner and Niemerg with two singles and two RBI each, Hushaw with two singles and an RBI, Hall with a single and three RBI and  Niemerg with a double and two RBI.

Hall was the winning pitcher, going the last three innings, allowing one run on four hits, one walk and striking out one.

At Altamont

South Central produced eight runs behind a seven-hit attack for an 8-4 victory over Altamont Lutheran Monday.

South Central took a 4-2 opening inning lead but Altamont Lutheran knotted the score in the second. South Central regained the lead with two in the third and finished with two in the fifth.

Jordan Smith had a double and drove in two runs while Colton Tockstein added two singles and an RBI. Jack Doehring had two singles, Luke Doehring a single and an RBI and Nate Knutt two RBI.

Aiden Hoover went 4.2 innings for the pitching victory. He allowed four runs on six hits, three walks and struck out six.

At Altamont

Shelbyville Moulton came calling and claimed a 7-3 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday.

Two Shelbyville Moulton pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter.

Three Comet errors allowed Shelbyville five unearned runs.

WSS held a 2-0 opening inning lead and led 3-1 after three. But Shelbyville moved ahead with a four-run third and tallied two more in the sixth.

The Comets finished the regular seaosn with a 16-6 record.

At Newton

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Newton St. Thomas, 14-6 Monday.

Brody Cox drove in four runs on three singles to lead the Bobcats. Cox also earned the win on the mound. The right-hander allowed eight hits and six runs (five earned) over five innings, stiriing out seven and walking two.

Tyce Kircher collected the save going one inning and giving up one hit and no earned runs.

Lyric Davis and Max Kircher had two hits each for the Bobcats. Kircher had two singles and two RBI and Davis a single, double and an RBI. Kaisyn Calame added a single and two RBI and Colton Ondes and Kircher had an RBI each.

The Bobcats welcome St. Anthony Thursday for their next game.

St. Thomas was led by Earnst with a single and triple, Michel with a single, double and an RBI, Herrmann with three singles, Buerster with a double and an RBI and Hartrich with a single and two RBI.

At Robinson

Both Teutopolis and Robinson Nuttall were strong on the hill Monday but the Raiders were just a little bit stronger at the plate in a 3-1 victory over  the Wooden Shoes.

Kale Goeckner started the game for Teutopolis and recorded 18 outs.

The Wooden Shoes opened the scoring in the first after Derek Drees singled, scoring one run.

The Raiders took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second and tallied a run in the bottom of the fourth.

Jack Weber showed the depth of the Wooden Shoes' lineup by leading them with two hits in three at-bats. Drees led T-town with one run batted in.

Teutopolis turned one double play in the game.

 

At Effingham

Effingham Sacred Heart claimed a 6-1 win over North Clay Monday.

No other information was provided.
