Effingham St. Anthony handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a loss in weekend high school baesball action Friday, 14-3.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 2-0 oepning inning lead and ended the game in the sixth via the 10-run rule.

St. Anthony finished with 12 hits led by Brady Hatton and Brock Fearday. Hatton finished with a single, double, home run and three RBI while Feaday had a double, home run and four RBI. Will Fearday picked up three singles and drove in a run while Samuel Link had two singles and an RBI and Alex Mayer a single and two RBI.

Joseph Tegeler went five innings for the mound victory. He gave up two runs on three hits, no walks and struck out five.

CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with a solo home run. Blake Muller had a single and an RBI.

At Beecher City

At Neoga

Neoga took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo by an 8-0 count Friday.

The Indians finished with 11 hits led by Garrett Ballinger with two singles, a double and four RBI, Matt Propst with a home run and two RBI, Carter Young with two singles and Kanen White with a single and two RBI.

White was the winning pitcher. He went 4.2 innings. He gave up only one walk, four hits and finished with six strikeouts.

BSE was led by Calin Chandler, Lucas Powell, Gavin Sanders, Lane Stine and Jayce Gillespie with a single each.

At Altamont

South Central had only two hits but claimed a 3-0 victory over Altamont in Friday action.

The two teams went scoreless through five innings before South Central tallied all three runs in the sixth.

The Cougars had two hits, a double and two RBI by Colton Smith and a single by Evan Hoover.

Callaway Smith threw a four-hitter with one walk while striking out 11 as he went the distance on the mound.

Altamont was led by Kade Milleville with two singles and Zaine Miller with a double.

Saturday Games

Teutopolis captured a doubleheader over North Clay/Clay City.

The Wooden Shoes edged the Cardinals by a 1-0 count in the opening contest. The lone run came in the sixth inning.

It was a pitcher's duel as Austin Borries went the first four innings for the Shoes, allowing no hits, no runs, walking three and striking out five. Davin Worman came on to toss the final three innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Carder Walden went three innings for the Cardinals, giving up no hits, two walks while striking out four. Cody Zimdars came on to throw the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits, no walks while striking out three to suffer the loss.

T-town's two hits were singles by Aidan Niemerg, who drove in the winning run, and Austin Borries.

The lone hit for the Cardinals was a single by Evan Clifton.

In the second contest, T-town captured a 7-2 win behind a seven-hit attack.

The Cardinals edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead before T-town tied in the second then moved ahead 3-2 in the third. The Shoes added on two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Teagan Pals had a single, double and two RBI for T-town while Bryce Niebrugge and Michael Habing added a double each. Jake Kocher and Eric Weidner added a single and an RBI each. Aiden Murray and Ben Grunloh had an RBI each. The Wooden Shoes improved to 11-1 overall and is back in action hosting South Central today.

North Clay/Clay City had five hits led by Brodie Adair with two singles. Talon Hemphill had the lone RBI. The Cardinals are now 6-3 on the season. North Clay will play host to Odin today.

Neoga claimed two 10-0 victories Saturday in two games at Webber Township (Bluford).

Malik Coy and Carter Young combined to throw a no-hitter against Agape Christian. Coy went four innings for the win, didn't give up a walk and struck out nine. Young came on in the final inning. He did not give up a walk and struck out three.

Neoga won by a 10-0 count in five innings. The Indians held a 2-0 opening inning lead then tacked on four in the second, two in the fourth and finished the game with two in the fifth.

Neoga had seven hits led by Colin Blazich with a single, double and three RBI and Cayden Hakman, Young and Jack Finney with a single and two RBI each.

Neoga then blanked Webber Township 10-0 in five innings.

Blazich and Landon Titus were on the mound for the Indians. Blazich gave up one hit, two walks while striking out six and got the victory. Titus went 1.1 inning, allowing one walk and striking out three.

Neoga had eight hits led by Blazich with two singles, a double and three RBI, Garrett Ballinger with two singles and an RBI, Coy with a single and two RBI and Ethan O'Dell with a single and an RBI.

At Woodlawn

Woodlawn played host to Brownstown/St. Elmo and edged the Bombers 15-14.

The two teams played to a 3-3 opening inning tie. Woodlawn moved ahead 9-7 after four innings then tacked on two runs in the fifth for an 11-7 lead. BSE then tallied three in the sixth and three in the seventh to lead 13-11 but Woodlawn scored two in the bottom of the frame to knot the score at 13-13. The game went into the eighth. BSE moved ahead by one in the top of the frame but Woodlawn scored two in the bottom of the inning to win 15-14.

BSE had nine hits led by Zayden Gillespie with three singles and an RBI, Gavin Sanders and Lane Stine with two singles each. Stine had four RBI. Sullivan Smith had a single and two RBI and Nolan Wilhour three RBI.

BSE dropped to 3-9 on the season and is back in action Tuesday at Dieterich.
