MATTOON -- Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 3-0 opening inning lead and went on for a 10-3 victory over Mattoon in junior high baseball competition Tuesday.
The Bullpups tallied nine hits led by Ben McDonald with two doubles and two RBI. Andrew Wagner added two singles and two RBI while Reed Schumacher chipped in with two singles. Charlie Bierman added a single and two RBI. James Trupiano and Charlie Hoene had an RBI each.
Curtis Tingley went 3.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits, two walks and striking out two in the win. Blake Verdeyen came on in the fourth inning and went 3.1 allowing one run on one hit with five strikeouts.

At Dieterich
Altamont Lutheran was a 13-3 winner over Dieterich in seven innings Tuesday.
The Rockets finished with 13 hits and was aided by 10 Dieterich errors.
Dieterich had five hits led by O. Keck with a single and two RBI and Niemerg with a single and an RBI.

At Beecher City
The Bobcats of Cowden-Herrick/BeecherCity broke a four-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over Ramsey Thursday.
Lance Roadarmel provided outstanding hitting and pitching. Roadarmel started the game, giving up seven hits, two runs (one earned) over the seven innings.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats had only three hits led by Lyric David with a double and an RBI and Roadarmel with a single and three RBI.
"This was a big win for us and we cannot say enough about Lance Roadarmel's effort today," said CHBC Coach John Brown. "He was the difference both on the mound and at the plate for us. Lance has been one of our leaders all year and he showed that again today. Truly an amazing effort."

Windsor-Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Brownstown/St. Elmo by a 10-2 count Tuesday.
Weston Friese and Johnny Richter had big days at the plate for the Comets. Friese went three-for-four with a triple and an RBI. He scored four runs.
Richter went two-for-three with a double, triple and three RBI and he scored three times.
Noah Vonderheide was the winning pitcher, allowing two unearned runs on three hits in five innings.

Charleston played host to Teutopolis and handed the Wooden Shoes a 7-5 loss Tuesday.
T-town held a 2-0 lead until the third when Charleston tied the game. The Trojans then moved ahead with two in the third, tacked on two in the fourth and finished with three in the fifth. T-town made a comeback bid with three runs in the seventh but couldn't make up the five-run deficit.
The Shoes had six hits led by Owen Lynch with two singles and an RBI, Bennett Schumacher with a single and two RBI and Jack Weber with a single and an RBI.
T-town will hit the road to Franklin Park Thursday for its next contest.
