Shoes Win Wooden Bat Tourney Title, Area H.S. Baseball Roundup

In the opening contest, the Wooden Shoes blanked Dieterich 11-0 in five innings as Andrew Probst and Aidan Niemerg combined to throw a no-hitter.
Probst went 3.2 innings, allowing one walk while striking out two. Niemerg came on to finish the final 1.1 innings, striking out two.
Michael Niebrugge had three of the Shoes' five hits in the contest with a single, two doubles and five RBI. Gavin Addis had a single and an RBI while Jake Bushur, Davin Worman and Aidan Niemerg had an RBI each.
In the second contest, North Clay/Clay City edged St. Anthony 7-6 in nine innings.
The two teams opened the first inning with a 2-2 tie. The Bulldogs moved ahead 5-3 in the third but the Cardinals came back to take a 6-5 lead in the sixth. St. Anthony then tied in the seventh before North Clay won on the ninth.
Jack Compton had four singles for the Cardinals and drove in two runs. Cody Zimdars had two doubles while Cayden Craig had a single and an RBI and Carder Walden an RBI.
Ian Jones was the winner on the mound. He went the last three innings, allowing one run on one hit and giving up two walks while striking out two.
The Bulldogs were led by Brock Fearday with a double and an RBI, Brady Hatton and Henry Brent with a single and an RBI each and Will Fearday with two RBI.
St. Anthony then bounced back to beat Dieterich in the third place contest, 10-2 behind a 12-hit attack.
The Bulldogs used the long ball with four home runs and a double in the game. B. Fearday hit a single, two home runs and drove in five while Hatton had two singles, a home run and two RBI and Aiden Laurtizen hit a solo shot. Eric Utz added a dobule and Samuel Link two singles and two RBI.
Alex Mayer earned the win on the mound, going four innings, giving up two runs on three hits, walking six and striking out three.
Dieterich had four hits, all singles by Gavin Meinhart, Mason Lidy, Jaxon Funneman and Bryce Bohnhoff. Meinhart and Andrew Hall had an RBI each.
In the championship game, Teutopolis tallied a 5-1 victory over North Clay/Clay City.
The Wooden Shoes struck with a run in the first inning but North Clay/Clty City quickly knotted the score at 1-1 in the second. T-town moved ahead with a run in the third and tallied three more in the fifth.
Jason Kreke led the way with a double and two RBI while Worman added three singles and an RBI. Henry Thompson and Michael Niebrugge had a single and an RBI each.
Austin Borries was the winning pitcher, Addis started the game, giving up one run on four hits while striking out two. Borries came on to finish the final four imnings, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks while striking out seven.
North Clay/Clay City finished with four hits led by Cayden Craig with a double. Evan Clifton added an RBI.

In Saturday play, Altamont handed Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg a 4-2 loss.
Windsor/Stew-Stras moved ahead 2-0 in the fourth inning. Altamont then came back with four runs in the bottom of the sixth for the victory.
The Indians had six hits led by Brayden Elam with a double and an RBI, Parker Bell with two singles and two RBI, Kade Millevile with two singles and Brayden Schnarre with a RBI.
Altamont's Dyson Wagner picked up the win. Elam started the game and went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out four. Wagner came on to throw an inning with three strikeouts.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led in hitting by Jackson Gurgel with a double and Seth Rincker with a single and an RBI.

North Clay/Clay City blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday, 6-0.
The Cardinls edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and tacked on single runs in the second and sixth and two more in the fifth.
Carter Walden had a double and an RBI while Trenton Ingram and Ian Jones had a single and an RBI each and Evan Clifton two singles.
CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with two singles.

Teutopolis took a 9-0 lead over Altamont by the fourth inning but the game didn't end until the seventh when the Wooden Shoes took a 14-0 victory Monday.
T-town had 11 hits and was aided by five Altamont errors.
Davin Worman knocked out two home runs for the Shoes and finished with three RBI. Teagan Pals had a double and an RBI, Jake Bushur a double and Aiden Niemerg two singles and an RBI.
Altamont had four hits led by Kade Milleville with two singles.
Worman was the winner on the mound. He went five innings, allowing three hits, three walks while striking out five.
In the second game of the doubleheader, T-town pounded out 13 hits and took a 19-3 win in four innings.
The Shoes were led in hitting by Gavin Addis with a single, double, home run and five RBI, Austin Borries with a single, double and four RBI, Worman with two singles and a triple, Carter Hoene with two singles, Jason Kreke with a single and three RBI, Henry Thompson with a single and two RBI and Bryce Niebrugge and Pals with an RBI each.
T-town improved to 6-1 for the fall and isn't back in action until Friday hosting Odin.
Altamont was led by Milleville, Brayden Elam and Keegan Schultz with an RBI each. Altamont dropped to 2-3 on the season. The Indians host Windsor/Stew-Stras today.
