Effingham Seniors Cruise Past Robinson To Win District

Effingham Post 120 Seniors cruised past Robinson by an 8-1 count Tuesday evening to claim the District 23 Tournament championship.
Effingham took a 3-0 first inning lead then added on two in the fourth and eighth and one in the sixth. Robinson's lone run came in the seventh.
Effingham had 11 hits in the contest including four doubles. McDonald had two singles and a double while Quandt had a single, double and two RBI. Levitt had a double and two RBI and Traub a double. Hayes finished with two singles and an RBI.
Robinson was led by Johnson and Jones with a double each. Johnson had an RBI.
Mayfield picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts.
The Seniors will now head to Division play in Fairview Heights which starts Monday, July 22. No schedule is available yet.
