Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 3-0 opening inning lead and went on for a 12-2 win in six innings over Taylorville Thursday in junior high baseball competition.

The Bullpups had a 14-hit attack and were aided by seven Taylorville errors.

James Trupiano had a single, double and two RBI while Ben McDonald added three singles and an RBI. Charlie Hoene had two singles and two RBI while Liam McAllister hit two singles. Charlie Bierman had a single and three RBI, Reed Schumacher a single and two RBI and Andrew Wagner and Blake Verdeyen a single and an RBI each.

Verdeyen went the first four innings on the mound for the win. He gave up one hit, one walk while striking out 12. Curtis Tingley came on to finish out the last two innings, allowing two runs on one hit, three walks and striking out three.

At Sigel

Dieterich scored two runs in the seventh inning to pull out a 3-2 victory over Sigel St. Michael Thursday.

The Sharpshooters took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and led 2-0 after four. But Dieterich came back with a run in the fifth then scored the tying and winning runs in the seventh.

Both teams had three hits. Dieterich was led by Bohnhoff, Bierman and Hall with a single each. Goeckner added an RBI.

St. Michael was led by P. Walk with two singles and an RBI and E. Walk with a single. The Sharpshooters finished with three errors.

Keck picked up the win on the mound for Dieterich. He went the final four innings allowing one hit, one walk while striking out three.
