T-town Downs Neoga, BSE Falls In H.S. Baseball

NEOGA -- Neoga stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead as the Indians played host to Teutopolis in high school baseball action Thursday.

The Indians held a 4-2 lead after four innings. But, here came the Wooden Shoes in the final three frames.

T-town tallied single runs in the fifth and sixth to knot the score at 4-4 then brought home four runs in the top of the seventh for an 8-4 victory.

The Wooden Shoes had nine hits as Henry Thompson knocked out two doubles and finished with two RBI while Davin Worman added a single and double. Michael Niebrugge, Dawson Hoene and Jason Kreke finished with a single and an RBI each.

T-town had three pitchers with Kreke picking up the victory. He went the last 3.2 innings, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and striking out nine

Neoga had three hits led by Landon Titus with a single and two RBI and Carter Young with a single and an RBI. Colin Blazich produced the other single. The Indians dropped to 1-3 on the season and will play host to Dieterich Tuesday.

T-town improved to 2-1 on the season and plays host to its own Wooden Bat Tournament Saturday. In game one, the Wooden Shoes will meet Dieterich at 9 a.m. followed by North Clay against St. Anthony at 11 a.m. The losers will play for third place at 1 p.m. with the winners playing for the champoinship at 3 p.m. All four games can be heard on 979XFM.

At Brownstown

Wayne City came calling and picked up a 12-1 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo in five innings Thursday.

Wayne City held a 1-0 opening inning lead, tacked on three in the third, six in the fourth and finished the game in the fifth with two more runs.

Brownstown/St. Elmo had three hits but finished with four errors. Calin Chandler, Dodge Willms and Eli Ledbetter had a single each. Ledbetter added an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 2-2 on the season and returns to action today against South Central.
