FLORA -- Effingham edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to hand Flora Floyd Henson a 4-1 junior high baseball loss Tuesday.

The Mustangs finished with single runs in the fourth and fifth behind a nine-hit attack. Calvin Beck had two doubles and drove in a run while Dagg Thompson had two singles, a double and one RBI. Coen Westjohn and Deek Thompson added two singles each.

Elliott Braddy went the first three innings on the mound for the win. He gave up no runs on three hits, two walks and struck out five. Three Effingham pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts and only gave up three walks and four hits.

At Dieterich

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took a 3-1 lead in the third inning on Dieterich and went on to end the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule by a 12-1 count Tuesday.

Weston Friese had a triple and drove in two runs for the winners while Jackson Hartman had a single and two RBI, Sawyer Kaufman a single and an RBI and Jacob Howe an RBI.

Friese was the winner on the mound. He went all five innings, allowing one run on five hits, no walks while striking out nine.

Dieterich outhit WSS by a 5-3 count. Nussmeyer led the way with two singles.
