Effingham St. Anthony scored big both Friday and Saturday in junior high baseball victories.

In the Friday contest, the Bullpups downed Dieterich by a 16-2 count in five innings.

The Bullpups were on offensively with 13 hits led by Blake Verdeyen with a single, double and an RBI, James Trupiano with two singles and three RBI, Curtis Tingley with a double and an RBI, Samuel Vineyard with a triple and an RBI, Owen Wrigley with a single and two RBI, Ben McDonald with two singles and Reed Schumacher with a single and an RBI.

Plus St. Anthony's pitching gave up only one hit as Parker Phillips went three innings allowing the one hit, two runs, two walks while striking out five. Reed Schumacher came on to finish out the final two innings, allowing no runs, no hits, one walk and striking out two.

Dieterich had one hit, a single by Nussmeyer.

In Saturday action at the Altamont Lutheran Tournament, St. Anthony's Charlie Hoene and Trupiano combined to throw a no-hitter as the Bullpups defeated Selmaville, 15-0 in three innings.

St. Anthony edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then had an 11-run second and finished with three in the third.

Hoene and Trupiano held Selmaville without a hit. Hoene went the first two innings with five strikeouts while Trupiano finished the final inning with two strikeouts.

The Bullpups had a 16 hit attack. Tingley had two singles, a triple and three RBI while Andrew Wagner added two singles and two RBI, Trupiano a single, double and an RBI, Hoene two singles and an RBI, Jaxon Having and Schumacher two singles and an RBI each and Ben McDonald and Eli Bales a single and an RBI each.

Im the championship game, St. Anthony was a 13-0 winner over Altamont Lutheran. Verdeyen had two triples and drove in six runs while Hoene had three singles and an RBI, McDonald two singles and two RBI, Tingley two singles and an RBI, Trupiano a single and two RBI and Liam McAllister a single and and RBI.

Hoene picked up the win, going three innings, allowing one hit, three walks and striking out four.

The Bullpups tallied one run in the first, nine in the second and three in the third to end the game.

Altamont Lutheran had three hits, all singles by C. Pals, J. Hunt and G. Frederking.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Mulberry Grove 17-4 Friday evening.

Luke Roadarmel started for the Bobcats and earned the win. He went three innings, giving up one hit, no earned runs while striking out five. Zach Bennett also pitched giving up two hits and four earned runs, striking out one.

Lyric Davis led the Bobcats with a single, double and two RBI while Tyce Kircher had a triple and three RBI, Matt Kircher a single and two RBI and Colton Ondes and Charlie Hardimon with a single and an RBI each.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City competed in the Altamont Lutheran Tournament Saturday. splitting victories.

In the first game for CHBC, Altamont Lutheran was a 10-2 winner. It was a 4-2 ballgame heading into the fifth inning when Altamont Lutheran scoreds ix runs on one hit to put the game out of reach for the Bobcats. CHBC committed six errors.

Altamont Lutheran was led by K. Davis and C. Pals with a single and an RBI each. J. Arend, C. Boehm and L. Schnarre had an RBI each.

CHBC was led by Lyric Davis with two singles and Colton Ondes with a single.

The Bobcats then ran out to a 4-1 opening inning lead and led 8-6 after two before ending the game with a 12-7 victory over Selmaville.

CHBC had 13 hits led by Kaisyn Calame with four singles, M. Kircher and Brody Cox with two singles and two RBI each, Davis with a single and two RBI and Hardimon and Roadarmel with a single and an RBI each.

At Vandalia

Effingham Junior High School continues to roll along. The latest victim was Vandalia by a 16-3 count Saturday.

The Mustangs had a nine-run third and a six-run fourth behind 13 hits.

Braden Jones had two triples and three RBI while Dagg Thompson had a double, triple and three RBI. Deek Thompson added three singles. Balin Garis had a single and two RBI while Ben Rodman and Kaden Rohr had a single and an RBI each.

Coeh Westjohn was the winner on the mound. He went three innings, not giving up a run, hit or walk and striking out five. Brody Nelson came on to throw the final inning, giving up three runs on three hits, one walk and striking out two.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed two victories during weekend action.

In Friday play, the Comets won their sixth game in a row by defeating Effingham Sacred Heart, 10-4 at Knop'Wascher Field.

Weston Friese was the winning pitcher, going 5 1/3 innings. He allowed one hit and two unearned runs while striking out six.

Friese led the way offensively with a single, triple and four RBI. Noah Vonderheide added three singles and two RBI and Adam Pruemer two singles and an RBI.

The Shamrocks were led by Hayes with two singles and two RBI and Traub with a double.

In Saturday play at Bethany, Stew-Stras could manage only four hits but were issued 13 walks and four hit batters as they pasted the host team, 16-1 in four innings.

Gavin Kowalczyk went three innings for the win, scattering three hits and allowing one unearned run.

Weston Spannagel had two singles to lead offensively while W. Friese added a single and an RBI.

North Clay/Clay City fell to Flora by a 13-2 count Saturday.

Flora also claimed a junior varsity contest, 15-3.

North Clay/Clay City is 1-6 overall and returns to action Tuesday against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in National Trail Conference play at 4:30 p.m.
