BLUFORD -- Brownstown/St. Elmo High School had a big offensive night in an 11-8 win over Webber Township (Bluford) Thursday.

The Bombers finished with 14 hits led by Gavin Sanders with two singles, a double and four RBI and Corey Hoopingarner with two singles, a double and two RBI. Keelan Speagle chipped in with three singles and an RBI and Lane Stine added two singles.

BSE edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead and tacked on another run in the second. Webber Township then tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the third.

The Bombers then broke the game open with a seven-run fourth and added on two more runs in the sixth. Webber Township came back with three in the sixth and two in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't overcome that four-run inning by the Bombers.

Calin Chandler was the winning pitcher going three innings allowing two runs on three hits, five walks while striking out four.

BSE is now 1-1 on the season and back in action Monday at Odin in a 6:30 p.m. contest.

At Odin

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City stepped out to an 8-0 opening inning lead and finished with an 11-1 victory over Odin Thursday.

The Bobcats had 10 hits in the contest and was aided by three Odin errors.

Blake Mueller led the way with a double and two RBI while Wyatt Rueff added a double. AJ Radloff finished with two singles while Clive Schlanser had a single and two RBI.
