Effingham Junior High School trailed Centralia after the top of the second inning Monday. But the Mustangs came back with four runs in the bottom of the frame and went on to end this game in the fifth inning via the 10-run rule by an 11-1 count.

Effingham had 10 hits and was aided by seven Centralia errors and eight walks. Dagg Thompson had a single, double and an RBI while Coen Westjohn added a single and double. Braden Jones finished with two singles and two RBI. Deek Thompson added a single and an RBI.

Westjohn was the winning pitcher. He went 4.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits, three walks while striking out nine.

At Effingham

At Shelbyville

Effingham St. Anthony took the early lead and went on for a 9-5 victory over Shelbyville Monday.

The Bullpups finished the contest with 10 hits, three of those doubles. Blake Verdeyen led the way witih a single, double and three RBI while Liam McAllister added a single, double and one RBI and Curtis Tingley a double and two RBI. Andrew Wagner finished with a single and drove in two runs.

Charlie Hoene started on the mound for the Bullpups and went four innings. He allowed one run on two hits, one walk and struck out seven for the victory.

St. Anthony edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then added on single runs in the third and fifth around five in the fourth.

At Kinmundy

South Central played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and sent the Bobcats home with an 8-0 loss Monday.

Colton Tockstein picked up the pitching win, allowing only one hit. He did not give up a walk and struck out five. Landon Lotz finished the final three innings. He did not allow a hit, gave up one walk and struck out six.

The Falcons ended with seven hits led by Aiden Hoover with two singles and three RBI, Landon Lotz with a double and two RBI and Tockstein and Isaac Guerrettaz with a single and an RBI each. Nate Knutt added an RBI.

South Central (2-0) stepped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning and tacked on its final three runs in the fifth.

The Bobcats had only one hit, a single by Lance Roadarmel.

At Kinmundy

At Neoga

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg racked up a 10-0 win over Neoga in five innings Monday.

W. Friese was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit.

Meanwhile, Windsor/Stew-Stras had eight hits led by W. Friese with a single, double and three RBI, Vonderheide with a double and Richter and Gracey with a single and an RBI each.

Matusas got the only hit for Neoga

 

At Newton

Teutopolis came calling and captured a 10-4 victory over Newton St. Thomas Monday.

Dylan Earnest had a single for St. Thomas. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch.
