Shelby County Edges St. Anthony, 3-2

In the first game of a doubleheader that was contested Thursday, July 11, Shelby County edged St. Anthony 3-2. Shelby County took a 2-0 lead in the second and St. Anthony tied the score in the third. The winning run for Shelby County came in the ninth.
The other game of the doubleheader was published July 12.
St. Anthony outhit the winners 10-9. Williams had a single, double and two RBI while Dasenbrock and Gertner had two singles each. Gardewine picked up the tough-luck loss going all nine innings, allowing three walks and striking out nine.
Leading Shelby County were Hatfield with a home run and two RBI and Keown with four singles.

Shelby County picked up two wins and two losses during this past weekend action.
Shelby County Posts 289-711-725 split wins with Danville Post 210 in Saturday play. In the opener Shelby County was a 3-0 winner, scoring all three runs in the fifth.
Tyler Hendryx had a single, double and three RBI while Gunner Thies had a double. Christian Vonderheide picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts.
In the second game, Danville Post 120 claimed a 13-3 win. Danville had six hits in the contest led by Colburn with a single, double and two RBI and Callahan with a home run and four RBI.
Shelby County had only three hits, all singles by Neil Yockey, Thies and Aaron White.
In games Sunday, Urbana Post downed Shelby County 12-4 in seven innings. Shelby County had seven hits in the game led by Thies with a single, double and three RBI and AJ Miller with a triple.
In the second contest, Shelby County banged out 14 hits and defeated Urbana 13-3 in five innings. Ben Helton pitched all five innings, allowing six hits, one walk and striking out three.
Keown had two singles, a double and two RBI. Thies had two singles and an RBI, Hawkins a single, triple and two RBI, Cole a single, double and two RBI and Moore two singles and two RBI.
