Brennyn Cutts Named MVC Pitcher Of Year

Cumberland High School graduate Brennyn Cutts was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year.

Cutts competes for Indiana State University and sports a 6-1 record with a 3.80 ERA.

Indiana State is headed to the 2024 Missouri Valley Baseball Championships and goes in as the top seed.

The squad sports a 39-11 record and finished 22-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference, winning its second regular season title.

Cutts is a junior who competed in 18 games during the 2023 season, eight of those starting jobs on the mound. He was the midweek starter and finished with two saves and a 2-3 overall record.

This year, Cutts has a 1.28 WHIP and has thrown in 68.2 innings, allowing 53 hits, 32 runs, given up 35 walks and struck out 68 batters.

The Indiana State pitchers have combined to be one of the National leaders with a 4.57 ERA over 431 innings. 

Indiana State starts conference tournament play Wednesday with a still to be determined opponent. The game will start at 4 p.m.
