EHS Drops Loss to Centralia In Baseball

Effingham High School fell to Centralia by a 9-5 count in baseball competition Saturday.

Centralia opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles. Drake Fuhringer singled, scoring two runs.

The Orphans then tallied three runs in the top of the third on a home run by Cruz Harlan on a full count.

The Hearts came back within 7-5 with five runs in the fourth on three hits. Brody Boehm grounded out, scoring one run while Kaden Koeberlein singled to score a run and Colton Webb doubled scoring two runs.

Webb finished with the double and two RBI while Spencer Fox added a double. Koeberlein had two singles and an RBI and Kaiden Nichols two singles. Brody Boehm added a single and an RBI.

Centralia finished with nine hits. 

Bethalto Civic Memorial defeated Effingham in junior varsity action Friday, 14-1 in five innings.

The Hearts took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second but Memorial came back with four runs in the bottom of the frame, tallied one in the third and finished with nine runs in the fourth.

EHS had three hits led by Keegan Koester with two singles and Aiden Feldhake with a single.
