C'land, Dieterich Nab Boys Regional Baseball Victories

TEUTOPOLIS -- Cumberland edged Vandalia 3-2 in opening round play of the Class 2A Teutopolis Baseball Regional Monday.

No. 10 Cumberland now advances to face No. 2 Teutopolis Wednesday at 4 p.m. The second game Wednesday will feature No. 3 Robinson against No. 6 Flora at 7 p.m.

The winners advance to the championship game Saturday at 10 a.m.

 

Class 1A North Clay (Louisville) Regional

Dieterich was a 7-0 forfeit winner over Webber Township (Bluford) Monday.

The Maroons, seeded eighth, will now meet No. 2 Altamont at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Class 1A Casey-Westfield Regional

The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City vs. Kansas Co-op contest that was to be played Monday, was rained out and has been tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday, weather permitting.

 

Class 1A Edwards County (Albion) Regional

Red Hill (Bridgeport) defeated Wayne City by a 5-2 count Monday.

No. 6 Red Hill advances to meet No. 1 Edwards County (Albion) at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The second game Wednesday will feature No. 4 South Central against No. 5 Cisne at 6:30.

 

Class 2A Marshall Regional

Lawrenceville was a 5-2 winner over Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville Monday.

Lawrenceville will now meet No. 4 Newton at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Marshall and Paris were to square off but no score has been reported. The winner of this game will advance to meet top-seeded Effingham St. Anthony at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
