DIETERICH -- Effingham St. Anthony struck early and often in a 13-1 victory over Dieterich in five baseball innings Monday on a game heard on 979XFM.

Beau Adams got the Bulldogs going with a single to open the first inning. He then stole second. With one out, Brock Fearday drew a walk. With two outs, Brady Hatton doubled home both runners.

Gavin French reached base in the bottom of the first with a single. He was sacrificed over to second. But Dieterich left him stranded.

The Bulldogs came up in the second and tallied four more runs to pull ahead 6-0. Will Fearday and Henry Brent reached on back-to-back Dieterich errors. Joseph Tegeler followed with a single. Adams hit a sacrifice that scored a run and Aiden Lauritzen followed with a single that scored a run. B. Fearday singled home a run. Conner Roepke had a single but was left stranded on the final out.

The Maroons went up and down in the bottom of the third.

St. Anthony then struck again with a run in the third on a double by W. Fearday and a single by Brent.

Dieterich finally broke loose with a run in the fourth. Jaxon Funneman reached base on an error. A fly ball out was followed by a single from the bat of Lucas Westendorf and that scored Funneman.

But the Bulldogs couldn't be stopped. Adams led off the frame with a single. Lauritzen was hit by a pitch. That was followed by a home run off the bat of B. Fearday and the lead had blossomed to 10-1. The Bulldogs weren't done yet. Roepke singled and Hatton came up to hit a home run. Sam Link reached base when he was hit by a pitch and would eventually come around to score the final run.

Hatton picked up the win on the mound, going four innings, allowing one run on three hits, one walk and one strikeout. Adams came on to finish the fifth allowing one hit and striking out one.

St. Anthony's junior varsity team took on Mattoon and fell in a 7-2 contest.

The Bulldogs held a 2-1 fourth inning lead but Mattoon came back with four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.

St. Anthony had six hits, all singles by six different players. Eric Utz and Will Vonderheide had a single and an RBI each.

At Altamont

Nokomis took a first inning lead and tacked on another run in the fifth to lead 2-0 against Altamont Monday.

But, here came Altamont. The Indians rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 3-2 victory.

Ethan Robbins was the star of the day. He hit a walk-off single to score two runs for the victory and finished with two singles in the game.

Robbins also took the mound for 5.1 innings but Kaden Davis came on to throw the final 1.2 innings for the victory. Robbins gave up two runs on three hits, three walks while striking out six.

Dillan Elam added a single and drove in a run. Nathan Stuemke finished with two singles and Clayton Arnold added a double.

At Altamont

At Ramsey

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City pounded out 13 hits and handed Ramsey an 18-2 loss in four innings Monday.

The Bobcats moved into a 5-0 lead in the second inning and led 11-2 after three and ended the game with seven in the fourth.

Wyatt Rueff led the way for the winners with three singles and three RBI. Blake Mueller added a single, double and two RBI. Donaldson finished with two singles and two RBI, Clive Schlanser added two singles and an RBI. Carson Evans finished with a single and three RBI. AJ Radloff and Clayton Wojcik had an RBI each.

Evans was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) ended this game over Neoga by a 10-0 count in five innings Monday.

The Cardinals tallied two in the first and second innings, one in the fourth and ended the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

Jack Compton threw all five ininngs, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out five.

Carder Walden led the way for the Cardinals in hitting with a single, two doubles and four RBI while Cayden Craig added a single, double and three RBI. Evan Clifton added two singles. Trenton Ingram had a single and two RBI while Ayden Jones had a single and an RBI.

Keaton Lacy got the lone hit for Neoga with a single.

At Louisville

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis stepped out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and went on to end this contest via the 10-run rule over South Central, 13-3 Monday.

Evan Waldhoff threw four innings, allowing two runs, giving up two walks while striking out four for the victory on the mound. He is now 2-1 on the season. Carter Hoene came on to finish the final inning, allowing one run on one hit and striking out three.

The Wooden Shoes, meanwhile, had the bats going with 14 hits. Garrett Gaddis was the big hitter on the night with a single, two triples, a home run and three RBI. Mitch Koester finished with two singles, a home run and three RBI. Brett Kreke finished with three singles while Mick Niebrugge had two singles and three RBI. Joey Niebrugge had a single and an RBI and Waldhoff added an RBI.

Brody Markley hit a solo home run as the lone hit for South Central.

The Shoes improved to 14-8 on the season while South Central dropped to 12-8-1. The Shoes are back in action today, weather permitting, at Newton.

Flora took a 5-0 lead in the third inning and went on to down Brownstown/St. Elmo, 8-1 in Monday action.

The Wolves had six hits in the contest.

The lone run for BSE came in the fourth inning. Cade Schaub led BSE with two singles while Lucas Powell had a single and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo dropped to 5-9-1 on the season and returns to action Wednesday against Neoga.

At Newton

Richland County tallied a 7-3 victory over Newton in a Little Illini Conference contest Monday.

The Eagles held a 2-0 lead in the second and led 3-1 after four innings. But Richland County rallied with three in the sixth and three in the seventh for the victory.

The Tigers knocked out two home runs in their nine-hit attack. Rylan Hancock had a single, home run and three RBI while Colby Redman finished with a single, home run and two RBI. 

Newton's five hits were all singles by five different players. Gus Bierman had a single and an RBI while Dexter Fulton had an RBI.

Ian Winkler picked up the win for Richland County. He went the last three innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out four.
