BSE, Newton Win, N. Clay, S. Central Tie In Baseball

BROWNSTOWN -- Brownstown/St. Elmo came back in the bottom of the fifth inning to score two runs and pull out an 8-7 victory over Dieterich Tuesday.

The Movin' Maroons held a 1-0 first inning lead and pushed that to 2-1 in the second. BSE tallied four runs to lead 5-2 in the third.

Dieterich came back with two runs in the top of the fourth but BSE tallied a run in the bottom of the frame to lead 6-4. The Maroons then moved ahead 7-6 in the top of the fifth only to see BSE come back with two in the bottom of the frame for the victory.

Cade Schaub led the winners with two doubles and three RBI while Lucas Powell had a single and two RBi and Collin Maxey a single and an RBI. BSE improved to 4-8 on the season and is back in action Thursday at Odin/Patoka/Sandoval.

Dieterich was led by Mason Lidy with a single and three RBI. Jaxon Funneman and Gavin Meinhart with a double and an RBI each and Justin Boerngen with a single and an RBI.

Corey Hoopingarner was the winning pitcher, going five innings, allowing six hits, five walks and striking out three.

At Brownstown

At Mattoon

Newton had a three-run third inning and went on to beat Mattoon 4-1 Tuesday.

The Green Wave took a 1-0 first inning lead and held that lead until the third when the Eagles tallied three runs. Newton added on a final run in the fifth.

Isaac Flowers led the way offensively for Newton with two doubles and an RBI. Drake Wolf added two singles and an RBI.

Hayden Mulvey went five innings for the win, allowing one run on three hits, one walk while striking out two.

At Mattoon

At Kinmundy

North Clay (Louisville) and South Central played to a 2-2 tie before the game was called Tuesday.

The Cougars held a 1-0 lead. North Clay moved ahead 2-1 in the fifth but South Central tied in the sixth.

Colton Smith had a single, double and an RBI for the Cougars while Maddox Robb added a double and an RBI and Trevan Sidwell two singles.

North Clay was led by Cayden Craig with two singles and an RBI, Carder Walden and Ben Czyzewski with two singles each and Cody Zimdars with an RBI.

At Kinmundy
