RAMSEY -- Altamont's pitching was on Tuesday as the Indians handed Ramsey an 11-1 loss in high school baseball.

Aden McManaway, Nathan Stuemke and Kaidyn Miller combined to throw a no-hitter.

McManaway opened on the mound going 1.2 innings, allowing one run while walking four and striking out four. Stuemke came in to throw 3.1 innings, allowing no walks and striking out six. Miller finished up the final two innings, giving up two walks and striking out five.

Meanwhile, the Indians finished with five hits and were aided by seven Ramsey errors.

Ethan Robbins led the way with two singles while Clayton Arnold had a single and two RBI. Justin Magelitz and Eli Miller had an RBI each

Altamont broke a 1-1 tie in the third with a run, then had a six-run fourth and finished with two in the fifth.

Ramsey pitchers helped the Altamont cause with 13 walks.

At Newton

Newton played host to Dieterich and blanked the Movin' Maroons, 8-0.

All the runs came in the first two innings as the Eagles moved into a 3-0 lead then added on five in the second.

Newton banged out 10 hits in the contest led by Payton Harris with two singles, a double and an RBI, David Ferguson with a single and triple, Dexter Fulton with a double, Dylan Gier with two singles and Isaac Flowers and Gus Bierman with a single and an RBI each. Carson Bartheleme added an RBI.

Bierman went the distance, allowing five hits, three walks while striking out five.

Dieterich was led by Gavin Meinhart with two singles.

At Newton

At Neoga

Neoga took a 2-0 opening inning lead and went on to blank Okaw Valley, 3-0 in Tuesday competition.

The Indians held a 2-0 lead in the first and tacked on their final run in the second.

Both teams had two hits and neither teams committed an error.

Micah Staszak went five innings for the win on the mound. He gave up no hits, walked two and struck out three. Trey Sheehan went an inning, allowing no runs, no walks and striking out two. Malik Coy finished out the last inning allowing two hits.

Neoga is 5-7 on the season and back in action today at Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 4:30.

At Oblong

Brownstown/St. Elmo zipped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and went on to down Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville, 5-3 Tuesday.

Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville came back with single runs in the first, second and fifth to tie the score at 3-3. Brownstown/St. Elmo then won the game with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Adam Atwood came on in relief for the victory on the mound. He went 2.2 innings, allowing no runs, no hits, no walks and striking out six.

St. Elmo/Brownstown scattered the hitting among its players. Atwood, Cade Schaub, Lane Stine, Lucas Powell and Hunter Poe all had a single each. Collin Maxey and Keelan Speagle finshed with an RBI each.

Brownstown/St Elmo is now 3-6 on the season and is back in action Friday against Neoga.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took a 2-1 lead in the second inning and went on to hold off Nokomis by a 5-3 tally Tuesday.

The Hatchets had their hitting shoes on as they finished with 11 in the contest. Branson Tingley led the way with three singles and an RBI while Connor Manhart finished with two singles and two RBI. Jackson Gurgel also had two singles. Blayzz Verdeyen had a double and Carter Verdeyen a single and an RBI.

Kendall Morris went six innings on the mound, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks. He struck out 13. Verdeyen came on to the finish out the last inning.

At Strasburg

North Clay (Louisville) blanked Cisne by a 16-0 count Tuesday.

The Cardinals improved to 6-8 on the season and are back in action Thursday against Effingham at 4:30 p.m.

 

At Centralia

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran moved into a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to blank South Central 6-0 Tuesday.

Both teams had seven hits but the Cougars committed three errors.

Callaway Smith and Colton Smith had two singles each to lead the Cougars.

At Altamont

Altamont and Effingham St. Anthony split junior varsity contests Tuesday.

Altamont won the opener 2-0, scoring single runs in the first and fourth.

The Indians had two hits led by Kaden Wolff with a double.

Keegan Schultz was the winning pitcher, allowiing four hits, three walks and striking out six.

Oliver Kreke led the Bulldogs with two singles.

In the second game, St. Anthony captured a 6-3 win behind a 13-hit attack.

The Bulldogs broke a 2-2 second inning tie with single runs in the third and fourth and two in the fifth.

Xandre Beals had a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs while Alex Mayer and Will Bierman had two singles and an RBI each.

Altamont was led by Riley Berg with a single and an RBI and Brayden Schnarre with a single.

Effingham handed Paris a 12-2 loss in a junior varsity contest Tuesday.

The Hearts took a 3-0 opening inning lead, pushed that to 6-1 in the fourth and then had three-run innings in the sixth and seventh.

EHS had nine hits and was aided by six Paris errors and eight walks.

Wade Bushur led EHS with two singles, a triple and three RBI while Brayden Tucker added a double and five RBI, Will Hecht a single and double and Carter Braddy two singles and an RBI.

Hecht was the winner on the mound, going two innings, allowing one run on one hit, two walks and two strikeouts.
