EHS Drops Apollo DH, Area Baseball Roundup

Effingham fell to Mathomet-Seymour in an Apollo Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday.

The Hearts lost the opener 4-3 with Mahomet-Seymour scoring all four runs in the last inning.

EHS led 1-0 in the first inning and scored two more in the fourth.

Colton Webb had a double and an RBI and Kaden Koeberlein added two singles and an RBI.

In the second contest, Mahomet-Seymour again trailed Effingham until the third then tallied six runs and added on six more in the fourth for a 12-1 victory.

The Hearts lone run was in the first inning. Camden Raddatz had a double and an RBI for EHS while Spencer Fox added a double.

In a junior varsity game, Mahomet-Seymour was an 18-5 winner.

Wyatt Hayes and Andrew Leonard had two singles and two RBI each for the Hearts.

At Altamont

Altamont took a 1-0 first inning lead. Fairfield moved ahead 2-1 in the top of the sixth but the Indians came back with four in the bottom of the frame for a 5-2 victory Saturday.

Nathan Stuemke led the eight-hit attack for the Indians with two singles, a double and two RBI while Dillan Elam had a double and an RBI and Kaidyn Miller two singles and an RBI.

Kade Milleville went all seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He walked none and struck out 10.

At Altamont

At Farina

South Central hosted a round robin Saturday and won two of three games.

South Central defeated Carlyle 4-2 behind eight hits. Brody Markley had a double, home run and two RBI to lead the way.

Coen West picked up the pitching win, going six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, two walks while striking out seven.

South Central then won over Casey-Westfield, 11-1 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

The Cougars had seven hits led by C. Smith with a single, home run and two RBI and C. Smith with a single and three RBI. West and Zane Montes added a single and two RBI each.

South Central then fell to Breese Central, 13-6 despite taking a 15-9 hitting lead.

Breese Central held the lead from the get-go. The winners finished with nine hits, five of those for extra bases.

C. Smith led the way for South Central with three singles while C. Smith added a single and double and Maddox Robb two singles, a double and three RBI. Montes chipped in with two singles and an RBI and Evan Hoover two singles.

Neoga tallied a 16-4 victory over Tri-County Saturday.

The Indians banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Trey Sheehan with two singles, a triple and three RBI, Micah Staszak had a single, double and two RBI, Josiah Gentry two singles and four RBI and Colin Blazich a double.

Neoga had a nine-run second and tallied six in the third and one in the fourth.

James Ballinger went 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits, four walks while striking out 10.

Teutopolis traveled to Salem and split a doubleheader Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes tallied an 8-1 victory in the opener. T-town moved into a 2-0 lead in the third and scored six more runs over the next three innings.

Austin Borries picked up the win on the mound, going six innings, allowing one run on four hits, three walks while striking out eight.

Evan Waldhoff had a double and three RBI while Borries had a double and an RBI, Devin Kreke a double and Garret Gaddis a single and two RBI.

Salem then claimed the second contest, 1-0.

Shelton threw the seven innings for the Wildcats and allowed only one hit, no walks and struck out two.

The Shoes lone hit was a single by Henry Thompson.

Salem scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

T-town is now 9-5 on the season and returns to action Tuesday at Robinson.

Newton ran into O'Fallon and dropped a 12-1 loss in six innings Saturday.

O'Fallon took a 2-0 opening inning lead then tacked on two more in the second, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and ended the game with three in the sixth.

Newton had three hits led by David Ferguson, Drake Wolf and Isaac Flowers with a single each.
