EHS, Teutopolis, Neoga, BSE Win In Baseball

Camden Raddatz collected four hits in four at-bats as Effingham downed Dieterich 10-2 in high school baseball action Friday.

Raddatz singled in the first and third innings as the Hearts held a 3-1 lead. The Maroons pulled within 3-2 in the fourth inning. But Raddatz doubled in the fifth inning as the Hearts moved ahead 5-2.

EHS then put the contest away with a five-run sixth as Raddatz hit a solo home run to left field. Jude Traub doubled, scoring a run and Spencer Fox grounded out, scoring one run. Braden Verdeyen drew a walk, scoring one run and Kaden Koeberlein hit into another fielder's choice, and a run scored.

Peter Rosen earned the win for the Hearts. He went five inings, allowing two runs on three hits, four walks and striking out four.

The Hearts finished with 13 hits led by Raddatz with two singles, a double, home run and one RBI, Kaiden Nichols with a single and double, Brody Boehm with two singles and an RBI, Colten Webb and Braden Verdeyen with two singles each and Traub with a double and an RBI.

Funneman hit a solo home run for the Maroons while Andrew Hall, Dominic Ashley and Gavin Meinhart had a single each.

At Effingham

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis improved to 8-4 on the season with a 9-2 victory over Flora Friday.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and led 7-0 after three. The Shoes tallied two more in the fifth.

Logan Lawson improved to 2-0 on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits, two walks and striking out five.

The Shoes had five hits in the contest led by Brett Kreke with a double and two RBI, Garret Gaddis with a double, Mitch Koester with a single and two RBI and Evan Waldhoff with a single and RBI.

Flora dropped to 2-9-1 on the season.

At Neoga

Neoga edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead on Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville and came out a 10-0 winner in six innings Friday.

The Indians finished with 10 hits in the contest led by Colin Blazich with two doubles, a triple and four RBI. James Ballinger added a single and two RBI while Matt Propst, Trey Sheehan and Josiah Gentry had a single and an RBI each.

Blazich also had a good day defensively, picking up the win on the mound. Blazich went two innings allowing two runs, one walk and striking out two.

Neoga improved to 3-6 on the season.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Cade Schaub threw a one-hitter as the Bombers trounced Ramsey 14-2 in six innings Friday.

Schaub threw 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on one hit and five walks. He struck out 10 in the contest.

Meanwhile, BSE went on a hitting run as Schaub had two singles and a triple, Collin Maxey three singles and three RBI, Adam Atwood a single and double, Josiah Maxey and Lucas Powell with two singles and two RBI each, Keelan Speagle and Corey Hoopingarner with a single and two RBI each and Keelan Speagle with a single and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 2-6 on the season and back in action at Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville Tuesday.

West Vigo came calling and handed Newton a 14-3 loss in five innings Friday.

West Vigo edged out to a 3-0 opening inning lead then had a four-run second. Newton came back within 7-3 in the third but the Vikings had a seven-run fifth to end the contest.

Newton had four hits led by Isaac Flowers with a home run and three RBI. Payton Harris and Dylan Gier had a double each.
