Ethan Robbins Throws No-Hitter For Altamont, St. Anthony, Dieterich Win Big In Baseball

ALTAMONT -- Ethan Robbins took the mound for Altamont in Tuesday's high school baseball contest and threw a no-hitter as the Indians blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo 10-0 in six ininngs.

Robbins went the distance, striking out 13 and allowing five walks.

Meanwhile, the Indians edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead and then had back-to-back three-run innings for a 7-0 lead. Altamont tacked on two more in the fifth and ended the game via the 10-run rule in the sixth.

Clayton Arnold led the hitting attack with a single, double and four RBI. Kade Milleville had two singles and two RBI while Riley Berg added a double and an RBI. Nathan Stuemke produced a single and two RBI and Eli Miller had a single and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo dropped to 1-6 on the season and is back in action Thursday against Pana.

At Mattoon

Effingham St. Anthony blanked Mattoon 12-0 in five innings of high school baseball Tuesday.

The Bulldogs stepped out to a 5-0 opening inning lead and never looked back.

St. Anthony finished with 14 hits in the contest, six of those for extra bases. Connor Roepke led the way with two singles, a home run and five RBI. Will Fearday added two singles, a triple and an RBI. Brady Hatton added a solo home run. Beau Adams and Aidan Lauritzen had a single and double each while Brock Fearday had two singles. Lauritzen and Fearday added an RBI each. Henry Brent finished with a double.

B. Fearday went the distance on the mound, allowing six hits, one walk while striking out eight.

Mattoon finished with four errors in the contest.

At Oblong

Dieterich put together a 16-hit attack and handed Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville a 22-4 loss Tuesday.

Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine stepped out to a 3-0 opening inning lead and led 4-2 after three innings.

But the Maroons went on the offensive, starting in the fourth inning with three runs, then tacked on four in the fifth and sixth and ended the contest with nine in the seventh.

Dieterich finished with 16 total hits, 11 of those for extra bases that included eight doubles.

Jaxon Funneman led the way with a single, double, home run and five RBI while Mason Lidy had three doubles and two RBI. Landen Keck finished with two singles, a triple and two RBI while Dominic Ashley had a double, triple and two RBI. Gavin French added a single, double and two RBI, Gavin Meinhart a double and three RBI and Lucas Westendorf a single and double. Carson Baxter added two RBI.

Meinhart picked up the pitching win, going five innings, giving up four runs on five hits, four walks and striking out four. Ashley came on to finish the final two innings, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out four.
