St. A Beats Altamont In Exciting Baseball Contest, EHS Pounds Shelbyville

Altamont rumbled in the first inning. After the Bulldogs went up and down, Altamont put two runners on base. Kaden Davis led off with a single but the Bulldogs pulled off a double player as the next batter hit a grounder to short. Dillan Elam followed with a single but another ground out ended the threat.
The Indians' Kaiden Miller got on base with a single in the second inning but was again left stranded as St. Anthony's Aidan Lauritzen posted two strikeouts.
But in the third inning, Altamont moved ahead 1-0. With one out, Davis and Nathan Stuemke had back-to-back singles. A walk to Dillan Elam loaded the bases. Keegan Schultz hit a sacrifice fly to score the run before St. Anthony got out of the inning without suffering further damage.
Meanwhile, Altamont was keeping the Bulldogs off base. St. Anthony went up and down in the first two innings. The Bulldogs got a runner on base in the third on an error but they couldn't get Ryan Schmidt across the plate.
Then the Bulldogs finally broke free with a run in the fourth. Brock Fearday reached base with a double. An error produced the run, tying the score at 1-1.
Altamont attacked again in the fifth. With one out, Stuemke singled and came home on a double by Elam and the Indians held a 2-1 lead.
Unfortunately for the Indians, that's the last run they scored in the game.
St. Anthony came to life again in the sixth. With two outs, Lauritzen and B. Fearday drew back-to-back walks. Then an error produced the run and the Bulldogs tied the score at 2-2.
The Bulldogs' Will Fearday singled in the seventh But the threat ended when he was caught stealing as Altamont catcher Nathan Stuemke hit shortstop Keegan Schultz with a good throw.
St. Anthony came back in the eighth to move ahead 3-2. With one out, Adams doubled. With two outs, B. Fearday followed with his second double of the game to score Adams.
The Indians made it thrilling to the end. Elam led off with a single but St. Anthony took care of the next two batters on a strikeout and a fly ball out. K. Miller then singled and Elam took second. But that's where the game ended as B. Fearday struck out the final batter to end the game.
B. Fearday ended up with the pitching win. Lauritzen started the contest and went four innings, allowing one run on five hits, two walks and striking out six. B. Fearday came on to throw the final four innings, allowing one run on four hits, one walk and stirking out four.

At Shelbyville
Effingham rallied to best Shelbyville 12-4 in Wednesday action.
The Hearts trailed by as many as four runs during the game as Shelbyville jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
The Hearts tallied one in the first and then started a comeback with two runs in the fourth as Kaden Koeberlein homered to left field. The Hearts then made the score 6-4 in the top of the fifth after Colton Webb singled, scoring two runs and Braxton Lewis doubled, scoring a run.
The lead went to 9-4 in the sixth and the Hearts tallied three more runs in the seventh.
Peter Rosen earned the win for the Hearts. The reliever gave up two hits and no runs over three and a third innings, striking out two wand walking none.
Out of the 10 hits for the Hearts, seven were for extra bases. Koeberlein hit his home run and had two RBI while Jude Traub had two doubles and an RBI, Colton Webb two singles and two RBI, Camden Raddatz had a dobule and two RBI, Braxton Lewis and Spencer Fox with a double and an RBI each and Kaiden Nichols added a double.
