Josh McDevitt Pitches For Missouri

SAUGET -- The University of Illinois handed Missouri University an 11-3 loss in baseball action at Grizzlies Ballpark Tuesday.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. Illinois then took off with two runs in the second and three in the third. Missouri tallied a run in the fifth but Illinois came back with three in the sixth and finished its scoring with two in the seventh. Missouri tallied one more in the bottom of the ninth.

Freshman Josh McDevitt opened on the mound for Missouri, going 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on five hits, two walks and striking out two. He is a graduate of Effingham High School. McDevitt is 0-1 on the season and has pitched 9.1 innings.

Jack Beaman had two singles, a home run and two RBI for Missouri.

Illinois was led by Drake Westcott with a home run and two RBI, Ryan Moerman with a home run and three RBI, Coltin Quagliano with a single, double and two RBI and Jacob Schroeder with a double. The Illini are now 11-12 on the season.

The Tigers dropped to 10-15 on the season.
