Bulldogs, Indians, Shoes, Pirates Win In H.S. Baseball

Effingham St. Anthony captured a 9-1 victory over Richland County in high school baseball competition Thursday.

The Bulldogs scored all of their runs in the second, third and fourth innings.

Conner Roepke and Henry Brent led the way in hitting with two singles and an RBI each. Brock Fearday added a double and an RBI while Sam Link had a single and an RBI.

The Bulldogs used four pitchers. Beau Adams went the first 3.1 innings for the victory. He allowed one run on three hits, two walks and struck out three. The Bulldogs finished with nine strikeouts as Nick Ruholl had three and Joseph Tegeler two.

At Altamont

Newton edged out to a 1-0 first inning and led through the first three innings before Altamont got on the board.

The Indians then scored three runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings for a 9-1 victory Thursday.

Kade Milleville went six innings, allowing one run on three hits, one walk while striking out seven for the victory.

Altamont had six hits led by Keegan Schultz with a double, triple and two RBI. Dillan Elam and Eli Miller had a single and drove in a run each.

Newton had four hits led by Max Meinhart with a single and an RBI.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis and Casey-Westfield went through four scoreless innings before both teams tallied runs in the fifth.

The Warriors moved ahead 1-0 in the top of the frame but T-town came back with five runs in the bottom and scored a final run in the sixth for a 6-1 victory Thursday.

Both teams had five hits. Davin Worman led the way for the Shoes with a double and an RBI. It was the only extra base hit of the contest.

Dawson Hoene had a single and drove in two runs while Max Niebrugge added a single and an RBI.

Logan Lawson started the game, going three innings, allowing one hit, three walks and striking out three. Evan Waldhoff picked up the win, going the next four innings, allowing one run on four hits, two walks and striking out one.

The Wooden Shoes improved to 3-2 on the season and will host Fairfield today.

Casey-Westfield dropped to 1-5.

Cumberland scored two runs in the third inning to take the lead and went on to blank Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 8-0 in Thursday action.

The Pirates had six hits and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City committed five errors.

CHBC outhit Cumberland by a 7-6 count. Hunter Pope had a double while Layne Jones finished with two singles.
