Effingham Downs Newton In H.S. Baseball

Effingham High School handed Newton a 9-3 loss in the lone area high school baseball game contested Monday.

The Hearts took possession early with a run in the first inning. They tacked on three more in the second and led 5-3 after five innings. The Hearts added four more runs in the sixth.

EHS had nine hits led by Camden Raddatz with two doubles and three RBI. Brody Boehm added two singles and an RBI and Kaiden Nichols two singles. Nick Martin and Carter Braddy had a single and an RBI each.

Colton Webb went the distance with 11 strikeouts. He gave up three runs on three hits and four walks.

Newton was led by Max Meinhart with a single and an RBI and David Ferguson and Gus Bierman with a single each. Payton Harris added an RBI.
