T-town Beats Dieterich, St. A, North Clay, Neoga Nab Baseball Victories

TEUTOPOLIS -- The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes improved to 18-3 on the season with a 12-2 win over Dieterich in high school baseball competition Monday in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3. The game ended in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

The Shoes put the game away in the first inning, scoring eight runs. Garrett Gadidis got the Shoes headed in the right direction, leading off with a single. He advanced when Davin Worman took base on an error. Mick Niebrugge drew a walk and Mitch Koester followed with a double, bringing home a run. Henry Thompson singled home two runs and Connor Hoelscher followed with a triple that scored a run. Devin Kreke grounded out, producing an RBI and Brett Kreke reached on a single. Zac Niebrugge drew a walk.

Gaddis came to bat again and walked. Worman followed with a single that produced two RBI. Niebrugge walked before Dieterich got out of the frame with the final two outs.

The Shoes scored two more in the third and two more in the fourth innings. Zac Niebrugge hit a two-run homer after Kreke drew a walk.

Dieterich finally broke loose with single runs in the fourth and fifth. Lucas Westendorf doubled in the sixth and came home on a ground out by Dominic Ashley.

In the fifth, the Maroons' Gavin French reached base on an error and later came home on a single by Gavin Meinhart.

Alex Kremer picked up the pitching win, going four innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out eight and walking two.

The Shoes were led offensively by Niebrugge with his two-run homer, Worman with a single, double and two RBI, Koester with a single, double and an RBI, Hoelscher with a triple and an RBI and D. Kreke with a double and an RBI.

T-town isn't back in action until Thursday when they head to St. Anthony.

Dieterich's two hits were a double by Westendorf and a single and an RBI by Meinhart.

The Maroons drop to 7-10 on the season and are back in action today hosting South Central.

At Odin

Effingham St. Anthony ended this contest in the fifth by a 15-5 count over host Odin Monday.

The Bulldogs tallied four runs in the first and fifth and three runs in the second and third innings behind a 17-hit attack.

Beau Adams had the hot bat on the night with a triple, home run and an RBI. Connor Roepke and Will Fearday finished with a single and double each. Brock Fearday had two singles and two RBI and Jordan Jones a double and an RBI. JC Trupiano and Max Koenig  finished with a single and two RBI each. while Joseph Tegeler had two singles.

The Bulldogs used three pitchers as Nick Ruholl started and went three innings for the win, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two. Tegeler threw an inning, allowng one hit and striking out two. Alex Mayer finished the final inning, allowing five runs on four hits, one walk and striking out one.

Odin was led by Lane with a home run and four RBI and Huffman and Cain with two singles each. Parrish added an  RBI.

At Louisville

North Clay/Clay City took a 2-0 second inning lead and went on for a 4-1 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Monday.

The Cardinals had six hits led by Ayden Jones with a single, double and an RBI. 

North Clay/Clay City stepped out to a 2-0 lead in the second then tallied single runs in the fourth and fifth. BSE's lone run came in the seventh.

BSE was led by Collin Maxey with a double and Keelan Speagle with a single and an RBI.

BSE dropped to 1-6 in the National Trail Conference, 6-13 overall. BSE is back in action today against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in a 4 p.m .contest.

North Clay/Clay City evened its record in the NTC with a 4-4 mark and is 12-8 overall.

At Neoga

Woodlawn took a 2-1 first inning lead but Neoga got untracked and went on a run that ended this game in the sixth by the 10-run rule, 17-6.

The Indians had 10 hits led by Matt Propst with two singles and four RBI, Riley Durdel with two singles and two RBI, Keaton Lacy with a single and three RBI and Colin Blazich with a single and an RBI.

Kanen White earned the win in the mound. He came into the contest in the fourth inning and went two innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out three.

Woodlawn finished with eight hits led by Frick with a single, triple and an RBI and Bundy with a double and an RBI. Kirtkpatrick added two singles and two RBI and Cheatham two singles.

Neoga dropped to 4-14 on the season and is back in action today at Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
