Bulldogs Defeat Shoes, Area Baseball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School kept its record perfect with a 10-4 win over Teutopolis in baseball competition Friday.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning then had three-run innings in the third and fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh behind a 14-hit attack.

Beau Adams and Samuel Link had three singles and an RBI each for the Bulldogs while Brock Fearday had a single, double and three RBI, Max Koenig a double and two RBI, Connor Roepke two singles and an RBI and Henry Brent two singles.

Fearday was the winner on the mound, going six innings, allowing four runs on four hits, three walks while striking out eight.

The Bulldogs improved to 15-0 on the season.

T-town had five hits led by Mitch Koester with a single and double, Carter Hoene with a double and two RBI and Mick Niebrugge a double and an RBI.

The Wooden Shoes fell to 10-2 on the season.

At Altamont

Altamont edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in National Trail Conference action, 3-2 Friday.

The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the third but Altamont tied in the fourth. CHBC moved ahead 2-1 in the sixth but here came the Indians with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.

Kade Milleville went four innings for the win, allowing one run on one hit, one walk while striking out eight.

The indians had seven hits led by Kaidyn Miller with a double and two RBI and Nathan Stuemke and Justin Magelitz with two singles each.

CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with two singles and an RBI and Carson Evans with an RBI. The Bobcats dropped to 3-4 in the NTC and 7-4 overall.

At Altamont

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg trailed North Clay 2-0 until the third inning then broke loose with three runs and went on for a 10-3 victory Friday.

The Hatchets had 12 hits in the contest, five for extra bases. Kendall Morris hit a single and a solo home run. Branson Tingley had two singles, a double and four RBI while Connor Manhart had a single and double and Jackson Gurgel and Colten Bridges a double and an RBI each.

Gurgel also picked up the pitching victory, going 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, one walk while striking out seven.

Nroth Clay was led by Cayden Craig with a single, double and an RBI and Carter Walden with a double.

At Strasburg

Dieterich came calling and stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and tallied a 5-1 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo Friday.

The Movin' Maroons tacked on single runs in the second, third and seventh innings. BSE's lone run came in the fifth.

Lucas Westendorf went the distance, allowing five hits, three walks while striking out seven.

Mason Lidy and Gavin French tallied two singles each. Landon Keck added a single and an RBI

BSE was led by Adam Atwood with a single and an RBI. BSE dropped to 1-5 in the National Trail Conference and 4-11 overall.

At Browntown

South Central opened the game with two runs in the first and blanked Neoga by a 5-0 count Friday.

Colby Bursott had a single and an RBI while Coen West and Callaway Smith had an RBI each.

Callaway Smith went 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on four hits, six walks and six strikeouts.

Neoga was led by Matt Propst  and Carter Young with a double each.

At Louisville

Teutopolis, Neoga and Atlamont played in the North Clay/Clay City Cardinal Classic Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes fell to North Clay/Clay City by a 2-0 count in the opener. The Cardinals scored the only two runs in the contest in the sixth.

Both teams had three hits and one error. North Clay was led by Ian Jones, Jack Compton and Ethan Sullens with a single each. Carter Walden and Ayden Jones had an RBI each.

T-town was led by Conner Hoelscher with a double.

Jesse Weidner was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out one.

In the second contest, Altamont blanked Neoga, 4-0. Altamont stepped out to a 1-0 first inning lead and tallied two in the second and one in the sixth.

Altamont had four hits led by Keegan Schultz with three singles and an RBI and Clayton Arnold with a single. Dillan Elam added an RBI.

Lacy Keaton and Josiah Gentry had a single each for Neoga..

Eli Miller was the winner on the mound, going 6.2 innings allowing two hits, two walks while striking out 15. Kaden Davis came on to finish the final out on a strikeout.

T-town then handed Neoga a 10-0 loss in five innings.

Garrett Gaddis held the Indians down, allowing only two hits and three walks and striking out seven.

Meanwhile, the Shoes banged out 11 hits led by Mick Niebrugge with a home run and three RBI, Davin Worman with two singles, a triple and two RBI, Austin Borries with ad ouble and an RBI and Dawson Hoene and Conner Hoelscher with two singles and an RBI each.

Neoga was led by Keaton Lacy and Carter Young with a single each.

In the championship game, Altamont was a winner over North Clay/Clay City, 6-3.

Altamont held the lead from the get-go. The Indians moved ahead 2-1 in the first and then added on two in the second and single runs in the fourth and sixth.

Altamont had seven hits led by Kaidyn Miller with a single ,double and an RBI, Keegan Schultz with a single and three RBI and Dillan Elam with a single and two RBI.

Nathan Stuemke picked up the win on the mound, going 5.2 innings allowing three runs on four hits, four walks and striking out three.

South Central downed Woodlawn 10-2 in the Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Invitational Saturday.

The Cougars took the early lead and never looked back.

Zane Montes threw a one-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts.

Montes aided his own cause offensively with two singles and two RBI. Callaway Smith had a double and an RBI while Maddox Robb had a single and an RBI and Coen West two RBI.

South Central then won over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 6-3.

The Cougars again took the early lead, 1-0 in the first then added on two in the third and fifth innings and one in the fourth.

South Central put together 12 hits led by Callaway Smith with a single and double, Trevan Sidwell with two singles, Brody Markley with a double and Colton Smith and Coen West with a single and an RBI each.

Markley was the winner on the mound, going five innings allowing three runs on four hits, five walks and striking out four.

These were the only games received.
