DIETERICH -- Dieterich tallied an 8-1 victory over Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high baseball action Thursday.

Dieterich edged out to a 3-1 opening inning lead then scored five more in the second.

The Roadrunners had 12 hits led by Alex Schottman with three singles, Traden Kessler with two singles and two RBI, Ben Schottman with two singles and an RBI, Bryce Bohnhoff with a single and two RBI and Maddox Niemerg and Carter Bierman with a single and an RBI each.

A. Schottman was the winning pitcher. He went 6.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits, one walk and striking out six.

Sacred Heart was led by Nash Wernsing with two singles and an RBI.

At Mattoon

Mattoon blanked Cumberland by a 6-0 count in Thursday action.

Mattoon had seven hits while Cumberland had three.

Ty Ralston, Colby Roedl and Gatlin Murphy had a single each for Cumberland.

Mattoon took a 1-0 first inning lead then added on a single run in the second, three in the fourth and one more in the sixth.

At Newton

Newton St. Thomas edged Teutopolis in a B contest, 4-3 Thursday.

Carter Barthelme was the winning pitcher going 1.2 innings with three strikeouts.

Quincy Fulton had an in-the-park home run and drew two walks for St. Thomas

C. Barthelme, Beau Bennett and Brooks Hermann had a single each.

Newton St. Thomas is unbeaten at 6-0 on the season and back in action today at Altamont Lutheran.

 

At Windsor

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a 14-2 victory over North Clay/Clay  City Thuesday.

NC/CC dropped to 3-4 in the National Trail Conferene and 4-6 overall and returns to action today at Iuka.
