Effingham edged Teutopolis, 3-2 in junior high baseball behind a nine-hit attack Wednesday.

It was a pitcher's duel as both teams went through the first six innings without scoring. Westin Hayes started for the Mustangs and went six innings, allowing four hits, three walks while striking out 10. Kale Goeckner went 3.1 innings for the Shoes, allowing four hits, one walk while striking out two.

Carson Fox came on to pick up the win on the mound, throwing the final inning, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk.

Eric Weidner threw 2.1 innings for the Shoes allowing two hits, two walks and striking out four. Blake Niemerg finished out, allowing three runs on three hits.

Effingham had nine hits led by Jenner Pals and Hank Nelson with a single and double each. Pals had two RBI and Nelson one. Hayes added two singles.

T-town was led by Will Bushur with two singles and Weider with a single and an RBI.

The Wooden Shoes tallied two in the top of the seventh but Effingham came back with three in the bottom of the frame for the come-from-behind victory.

Effingham captured the South Central 6 Conference championship with a 5-0 record.

At Dieterich

Dieterich edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead on Sigel St. Michael then broke the game loose with a 10-run second and tacked on a final run in the third for a 13-1 win in four innings Wednesday.

The Roadrunners banged out 10 hits in the contest. Bryce Bohnhoff had a single, double and an RBI while Maddox Niemerg added two singles and two RBI. Max Brummer and Cooper Stortzum chipped in with a single and two RBI each. Alex Schottman added a single an RBI.

The Sharpshooters had four hits, all singles by E. Walk, A. Heuerman, W. Andrews and L. Strohl. E. Fearday had an RBI.

B. Schottman took the victory on the mound, going three innings, allowing one run on four hits, one walk and striking out three.

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City beat North Clay, 10-5 in Wednesday competition.

Connor Vaughn started for the Bobcats and earned the win on the mound. He went six innings, allowing five runs on four hits, four walks and striking out five. Isaac Wells came on in the seventh to earn the save. He didn't allow a hit, walked one and struck out two.

Kaisyn Calame continued his hot hitting for the Bobcats with a double and two RBI. Isaac Wells, Casey Macklin and Max Kircher collected two hits each. Wells had two singles and three RBI and Macklin and Kircher two singles and an RBI each. Vaughn added a single and an RBI.

Cumberland ripped out to a 10-0 first inning lead and ended this contest over Palestine/Hutsonville by a 15-2 count in five innings Wednesday.

The Raiders had six hits and were aided by nine Palestine/Hutsonville errors. Reed Walker had two singles and two RBI while Colby Roedl had a single and two RBI. Gatlin Murphy and Andrew Swim had two RBI each. Ty Ralston had a single and an RBI.

Bronx Clapp picked up the pitching win. He went two innings, giving up two runs on two hits, three walks and striking out two. Swim came on to throw the final three innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.
