T-town Takes Doubleheader, Dieterich Wins, BSE Falls

ALTAMONT -- Teutopolis took the first inning lead in both games in handing Altamont a high school baseball doubleheader loss Monday.

The Wooden Shoes opened the first contest with a 3-1 lead and went on for a 5-3 victory.

Despite being outhit by a 7-6 count and coughing up three errors, the Shoes managed to put together single runs in the second and fourth innings and hold off Altamont.

Garrett Gaddis started the contest and went three innings on the mound. He allowed two runs on only one hit, two walks while striking out six. Gavin Addis went three innings while Mick Niebrugge finished out the contest in the final inning.

Mitch Koester led offensively with a single, double and an RBI. Davin Worman, Carter Hoene and Devin Kreke had a single and an RBI each. Alex Kremer added an RBI.

Altamont had seven singles off the bats of Eli Miller, Nathan Stuemke, Kaidyn Miller, Dillan Elam, Riley Berg, Kade Milleville and Kaden Davis. Milleville had the lone RBI.

In the second contest, heard on 979 XFM, T-town stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and went on for an 8-1 victory.

Again the Shoes were outhit by Altamont by a 9-6 count but this time around the Indians had three errors and gave up 10 walks.

The Shoes' pitchers put together 10 strikeouts and allowed only two walks in the contest. C. Hoene went the first three innings, allowing three hits and striking out four. Austin Borries came on to throw two innings, allowing three hits and striking out three. Davin Worman finished out the final two innings, allowing one run on three hits, two walks and striking out three.

Borries had a double and drove in three runs while Jake Bushur, Jason Kreke and Andrew Probst had a single and an RBI each.

Altamont was led by E. Miller with a single and double and Elam with three singles and an RBI. Stuemke added two singles.

At Ramsey

Dieterich pounded Ramsey to the tune of 15-0 in six innings Monday.

The Movin' Maroons had a 14-4 hitting margin for the contest. Gavin French led the way with a single, double and four RBI while Dominic Ashley and Andrew Hall had a single, double and two RBI each. Gavin Meinhart had a two singles and an RBI while Justin Boerngen had two singles. Landen Keck had a single and two RBI and Dominic Boyer had a single and an RBI.

Meinhart went the distance on the mound, striking out 11 while issuing no walks and giving up four hits.

At St. Elmo

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval tallied a 7-4 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo Monday.

OPS took a 1-0 opening inning lead then added on three in the third and finished out with three in the seventh.

BSE had a lone run in the third then attempted a comeback, scoring three in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.

Josiah Maxey and Zayden Gillespie led the way offensively for BSE with two singles each. 

Brownstown/St. Elmo dropped to 1-4 on the season and is back in action today at South Central.
