Effingham Junior High School ended the day 7-1 while Olney was 6-0 and Sullivan 5-2 at the Effingham Invitational Tournament Saturday.

The Mustangs defeated Sullivan by a 4-2 count. Sullivan held a 1-0 lead until the fifth then tacked on another run. Effingham scored one in the bottom of the fifth and then tallied three runs in the sixth for the victory.

Effingham had nine hits led by Westin Hayes with two singles and a double. TJ Raddatz and Carter Kalber had a single and an RBI each.

Hayes picked up the win on the mound, going 1.1 innings, not allowing a hit or run while walking one and striking out two.

Effingham fell to Olney, 8-5.

The Mustangs moved into a 2-1 opening inning lead and led 3-1 after three. But Olney came back with three runs and took a 6-5 lead in the fifth then tallied two more in the sixth.

Effingham had seven hits but committed four errors. Ian Kinkelaar had a double while Carson Fox had two singlesand an RBI. Jenner Pals had a single and two RBI and Daegan Mooney a single and an RBI.

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael played host to Effingham St. Anthony and claimed a 9-5 win Saturday.

The Sharpshooters banged out 13 hits in the contest led by A. Heuerman with two singles, a double and an RBI, E. Walk with three singles and two RBI, L. Dittamore with two singles and an RBI and E. Feaday with two singles. T. Durdel, W. Andrews and N. Platz had a single and an RBI each.

St. Anthony was led by Blake Verdeyen with a double, triple and an RBI and Mason Storm with two singles, a double and two RBI.

L. Dittamore was the winner on the mound for St. Michael going 2.1 innings allowing four runs on four hits, two walks and no strikeouts. A. Heuerman came on to go 4.2 innings, allowing one run on six hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

Effingham Sacred Heart had to go only four innings in downing Mulberry Grove, 18-0 Friday.

Mason Karolewicz was the winning pitcher throwing a no-hitter.

The Shamrocks took a 3-0 first inning lead then tallied eight in the second and seven in the third behind a 13-hit attack.

Gabe Traub had a single, double and an RBI for the winners while Owen Schuette and Keaton Kruger had two singles each. Kruger had two RBI and Traub one. Freddie Jansen had a double and two RBI.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 12-0 in five innings Friday.

WSS took a 1-0 lead in the second then had an 11-run third.

Duncan threw a no-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts. He also aided his own cause with a triple and two RBI.

Manhart had two singles and Holland a single and two RBI.

At Cowden

Newton St. Thomas edged Dieterich, 4-2 in Friday competition.

Carter Barthelme went five innings for the win and struck out 12.

Dylan Earnest had three singles and Quincy Fulton a single.

St. Thomas is now 3-0 and returns to action Wednesday at Cumberland.
