Effingham St. Anthony handed Dieterich a 6-3 loss in Friday high school baseball competition.

The Bulldogs broke a 1-1 opening inning tie with a one-run second then added on two more to move ahead 4-1 in the third. The Movin' Maroons talied a second run in the fifth and one in the sixth. But St. Anthony retaliated with single runs in the sixth and the seventh.

St. Anthony had eight hits and was aided by four Dieterich errors.

Connor Roepke had a single and double while Max Koenig added a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs. Beau Adams, Brock Fearday and Samuel Link had a single and an RBI each.

St. Anthony went through four pitchers. Beau Adams picked up the victory, going 2.2 innings, allowing no runs on three hits, three walks and striking out six.

Dieterich was led by Jaxon Funneman with two singles and Dominic Ashley with two singles and an RBI. Lucas Westendorf and Carson Baxter had a single and an RBI each.

At Altamont

Altamont's Dillan Elam threw a one-hitter as the Indians handed Neoga a 4-1 loss in Friday competition.

Elam went six innings, striking out 15 batters and allowing only one run on one hit.

Meanwhile, the Indians had six hits in the contest. Keegan Schultz had a double and drove in two runs while Kaidyn Miller had two singles and an RBI. Clayton Arnold added a single and an RBI.

Neoga's lone hit was a single by Landon Titus.

Altamont held a 2-0 lead after two innings then tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth. Neoga's lone run came in the fifth.

At Kinmundy

South Central blanked North Clay, 5-0 in a Friday contest.

The two teams went scoreless through three innings before the Cougars broke loose with four runs and tacked on a final run in the sixth.

South Central's C. Smith threw a five-hitter with six walks and three strikeouts.

The Cougars had six hits led by Brody Markley with a single and two RBI and Zane Montes and Maddox Robb with a single and an RBI each.

Cayden Craig  and Ingram had a double each.

At Kinmundy

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg was a winner in Friday action over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and then tallied a 5-3 victory over Altamont Saturday.

In Friday action, Windsor/Stew-Stras downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 10-0 in five innings.

The Hatchets held a 3-0 opening inning lead then tacked on five in the second and two in the third. WSS had seven hits.

In Saturday play, WSS trailed Altamont by a 2-1 count through four innings before breaking loose with three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.

The Hatchets had eight hits led by Ben Bridges with a single and double, Jakob Gurgel with two singles and an RBI, Connor Manahrt with a single and two RBI and Kendall Morris with a single and an RBI.

Blayzz Verdeyen came on in the fourth inning and picked up the win on the mound. He allowed two runs on three hits, six walks and struck out one.

Altamont was led by Keegan Schultz with a single and double, Eli Miller with a double and Kaden Davis with two singles and an RBI.

Wayne City played host to Brownstown/St. Elmo and was a 7-2 winner Friday.

Wayne City held a 3-0 lead in the second, tacked on two in the third and two in the sixth. BSE's runs came in the sixth and seventh.

Brownstown/St. Elmo outhit Wayne City by an 8-3 count.

Adam Atwood had two singles for BSE while Cade Schaub and Lane Stine had a double each.

The Bombers drop to 1-3 on the season.
