Cubs Continue To Move Closer To Brewers, MLB Weekend Schedule

PITTSBURGH -- The Chicago Cubs got the 5-4 win over the PIttsburgh Pirates Thursday.
The Cubs won in the 10th and are now three games back in the NL Central behind the first place Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs have won five of their last six games to keep inching forward.
Nico Hoerner got the Cubs off in the right direction in the first inning, doubling to right field. He came home on a single by Cody Bellinger to left field.
Chicago moved ahead 3-0 in the top of the second. Seiya Suzuki doubled to right and Yan Gomes reached on an infield single. Suzuki went to third. Jeimer Candelario hit a sacrifice fly to left and Suzuki scored making it 2-0. Nick Madrigal singled to right field and Gomes went to second. Mike Tauchman grounded out and on a fielder's choice, Madrigal was out at second but Gomes had moved to third. Nico Hoerner then followed with a single to right and the Cubs were up 3-0.
Pittsburgh tallied a run in the second and knotted the score in the third inning. The two teams went scoreless over the next six innings.
The Cubs then took a 5-3 lead in the top of the 10th. Tauchman was the automatic runner at second base. Dansby Swanson drew a walk. Tauchman and Swnason advanced on a wild pitch. Ian Happ then singled Tauchman home and Swanson scored on a fielding error by the Pirates right fielder.
Pittsburgh came back in the bottom of the 10th but could muster only one run and the Cubs were victorious.
Daniel Palencia picked up the pitching win while Adbert Alzolay earned a save.
