Junior High Baseball -- August 21

Cumberland tacked on four in the third, three in the fifth and one in the seventh.

The winners had five hits, all singles by Ty Ralston, Reed Walker, Gavin Wormhoudt, Aydan Oakley and Gatlin Murphy. Wormhoudt and Oakley had an RBI each. Andrew Swim added two RBI.

Murphy was the winning pitcher. He went 6.2 inings, allowing no runs on four hits, three walks and striking out four.

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael scored eight runs in the second inning and went on to down Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 12-0 in four innings Monday.

Two pitchers combined for a no-hitter. Heuerman went 3.2 innings and did not allow a hit, one walk and struck out six. Strohl came on for the final out.

The Sharpshooters  edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then added on eight in the second and three in the third to end the contest in four innings.

St. Michael had eight hits led by Fearday with two singles and two RBI, Durdel had two singles and an RBI and Heuerman a single and two RBI. Andrews and M. Platz had a single and an RBI each.

"Our defense was porous this day allowing three errors," said CHBC Coach John Brown. "Furthermore, we were unable to manage a hit in this 12-run shortened game. One bright spot was Cayden Ondes stealing two bases."
