St. Anthony, S. Central Win Twice, Dieterich Splits

CENTRALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony swept a high school baseball doubleheader during weekend action.

The Bulldogs downed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran in a doubleheader Saturday.

St. Anthony edged CORL by an 8-7 tally in nine innings. The Bulldogs held a 6-1 lead after two innings but CORL came back with four runs in the fifth to pull within one. St. Anthony pushed into a 7-5 lead in the sixth but the Stallions had a two run inning in the bottom of the seventh to knot the score.

The two teams went through the eighth without scoring before St. Anthony tallied the winning run in the ninth.

Henry Brent had a single, two doubles and drove in a run while Aiden Lauritzen had a single, double and an RBI. JC Trupiano tallied three singles and an RBI. Sam Link added a double and an RBI. Brady Hatton had two singles and Joseph Tegeler had two RBI.

Link finished up as the winning pitcher, going the final four innings, allowing two runs on five hits, two walks and striking out two. He was the fourth Bulldogs pitcher.

In the second contest, St. Anthony blanked CORL, 6-0.

Brock Fearday, Aiden Lauritzen and Nick Ruholl were on the mound for the Bulldogs. Fearday went 2.2 innings, allowing no runs, two hits, one walk and striking out four in the victory. Lauritzen came on to throw 3.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits and four strikeouts and Ruholl had two strikeouts to finish the contest.

Fearday led the way in hitting with two singles, a double and an RBI while Beau Adams had a single, double and two RBI. Hatton had a double and an RBI and Max Koenig two singles and an RBI.

At Kinmundy

South Central blanked Ramsey by a 16-0 tally with a 13-run second inning Friday.

South Central had only three hits but Ramsey gave up 15 walks in the contest and finished with four errors.

Colby Bursott and Maddox Robb had a double each. Robb finished with an RBI.

Zane Montes went two innings for the win on the mound, with five strikeouts. Evan Hoover went one inning, striking out three while Chase Guerrettaz went an inning, allowing one hit and striking out two.

In Saturday action, South Central handedWoodlawn a 10-0 loss in five innings.

Coen West allowed one hit while striking out six for the win on the mound. Trevan Sidwell came on in the final two innings, allowing no hits and striking out four.

C. Smith had a double and an RBI while C. Smith had two singles and an RBI. Montes had a single and two RBI and West and Sidwell had a single and an RBI each.

South Central held a 6-0 lead in the second then tacked on two in the third and fourth innings for the 10-run rule in five.

At Brownstown

Brownstwon/St. Elmo played host to Dieterich and the Movin' Maroons went home with a 7-4 victory Saturday.

Dieterich edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. BSE came back to pull ahead with a three-run third. But Dieterich mounted an attack with a four-run fifth and then tallied single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Jaxon Funneman led the Maroons with a single, home run and three RBI while Gavin Meinhart added two singles.

Funnman was the winning pitcher, going 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, five walks and striking out nine.

Adam Atwood led Brownstown/St. Elmo with a single and double while Josiah Maxey had two singles. BSE dropped to 1-2 on the season.

In a Friday contest, Dieterich fell to Neoga, 16-1 in four innings.

The two squads were tied at 1-1 after the first inning before Neoga broke loose with a three-run second, then tacked on seven in the third and five in the fourth.

Neoga had 11 hits led by Colin Blazich with a single, double and an RBI,  Keaton Lacey with two singles and four RBI, Matt Propst with two singles and two RBI and Micah Staszak and James Ballinger with a single and two RBI each.

Dieterich had one hit, a single by Justin Boerngen.
