ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony's Jonny Gannaway and Andrew Wagner put together a one-hitter on the mound as the Bullpups handed Altamont a 15-2 loss in four junior high baseball innings Tuesday.

away picked up the win, going the first two innings, allowing two runs on one hit, four walks and four strikeouts. Wagner came on to throw the final two innings with four strikeouts.

The Bulllpups had 12 hits in the game.Conner Storm had a single, double and two RBI while Charlie Hoene and Mike Fearday had two singles each. Gannaway had a single and three RBI while Axton Lankford and Owen Wrigley had a single and two RBI each. Curtis Tingley, Ben McDonald and Charlie Bierman had a single and an RBI each.

Altamont's lone hit was a single by Durbin. Beccue and Neu added an RBI each.

At Neoga

Neoga edged Effingham Sacred Heart by a 5-4 count Tuesday.

The Shamrocks moved ahead 3-0 in the first inning and held that until the third when Neoga tied the score. Neoga then moved ahead with two in the fourth.

Neoga had six hits in the contest led by Ballinger with a douible. Sparrow, Hoene, Cole and Jackson had an RBI each.

Sacred Heart was led by Wernsing and Hayes with a double and an RBI each. Kruger added an RBI.

The Shamrocks are back in action Friday hosting Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

Mattoon stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and held a 2-1 lead until the seventh when Teutopolis went on a run, scoring three for a 4-2 victory Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes had seven hits in the contest led by Will Bushur with three singles. Alex Grunloh and Jake Probst had a single and an RBI each.

Kale Goeckner went 6.2 innings in relief. He threw a five-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts.

Mattoon finshed with six hits in the game but committed three errors.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strsaburg edged Cumberland, 11-10 with a four-run fifth in Tuesday action.

WSS held a 3-0 lead in the top of the second but Cumberland moved ahead with a six-run bottom of the frame. Cumberland led 9-5 after three innings and 10-7 after four. WSS then tallied four runs in the fifth and held on for the win.

The winners had nine hits while Cumberland had a 10-9 margin.

Aydan Oakley had a double and an RBI for Cumberland while Colby Roedl had two singles and two RBI and Ty Ralston had two singles and three RBI. Reed Walker added a single and an RBI.

At Toledo

Pana had six hits and was aided by three CHBC errors.

The Bobcats' two hits were singles by Isaac Wells and Casey Macklin.

Burris was the winning pitcher for Pana, going all five innings, allowing no runs on two hits, one walk and striking out nine.

Newton St. Thomas handed Palestine a 12-2 loss in five innings Tuesday.

Carter Bartheleme went four and a third innings for the win. He finished with nine strikeouts.

Quincy Fulton had a single, double and an inside-the-park home run. Beau Bennett and Mason Buerster had two singles each.

The game was the season-opener for St. Thomas. The squad is back in action hosting Sigel St. Michael Friday at 4:30 p.m.

 

At Selmaville

North Clay captured an 8-2 victory over Selmaville Tuesday.

North Clay is now 1-1 on the season.
