The Shamrocks ran out to a 5-0 first inning lead. St. John's came back within 5-4 with two runs in the third and fourth innings. But the Shamrocks scored four more in the bottom of the fifth and held off St. John's for the victory.
Nash Wernsing was the winning pticher.
Sacred Heart had only three hits while St. John's had eight. Gabe Traub and Freddy Jansen provided that offense with two hits each. Owen Schuette drew three walks.
Sacred Heart is back in action Saturday in the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tournament against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 11 a.m.

At Effingham
Effingham blanked Vandalia by a 12-0 count in four innings Thursday. The game ended due to the 12-run rule.
The Mustangs had 11 hits in the contest and 11 RBI. Hank Nelson led the way with a single, double, home run and three RBI. The homer was a two-run shot. Carson Fox and Daegan Mooney had a single, double and an RBI each. James Wendt added a single and had three RBI.
Ian Kinkelaar was the winner on the mound, going four innings, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out six.
Effingham travels to Carmi today for a 4 p.m. contest.

At Shelbyville
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City waited until the later innings to come from behind and edged Shelbyville, 6-5 Thursday.
Shelbyville held a 3-0 lead in the second inning and led 5-1 after four. CHBC tallied a run in the fifth and then scored four in the sixth to pull out the victory.
Four pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter for CHBC. Connor Vaughn came on in the fourth and threw 2.2 innings, allowing on one hit while striking out six for the win. Issac Wells went 1.1 inning allowing three runs, no hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Harlan McConkey went 2.1 innings allowing two runs on no hits, three walks and striking out one. Casey Macklin finished out the contest allowing one walk while striking out two to end the game.
Vaughn had two singles and drove in two runs for the winners,. Wells, Macklin, Daithyn Arnold and Cayden Ondes had a single and an RBI each.

Cumberland came through with a four-run fifth to capture a 7-6 win over Lawrenceville Parkview Thursday.
Parkview took a 2-0 first inning lead before Cumberland moved ahead 3-2 in the top of the third. Parkview then scored three in the fourth for a 5-3 lead.
Cumberland came back with a four runs in the fifth and held off Parkview for the win.
R. Walker led Cumberland with two singles, a double and two RBI. E. Davis added a triple and an RBI while G. Wormhoudt had two singles and an RBI and B. Overbeck two singles.
C. Roedl came on in relief of G. Murphy in the fifth and was the winner on the mound. Roedl allowed one run on one hit, two walks and struck out two.
