Cardinals Beat Rays, Cubs Fall To Mets, MLB Scores Schedule

ST. PETERSBURG -- St. Louis broke loose to hand the Tampa Bay Rays a 6-4 loss Wednesday night.

The Cardinals trailed the Rays 2-1 after the second inning but moved ahead with a two-run third then added on two in the fourth and finished with one in the seventh.

In the two-run third, Nolan Arenado and Jordan Walker had singles that drove in a run each as the Cardinals moved ahead 3-2. The lead went to 5-2 with two in the fourth.

Lars Nootbaar had a solo shot in the seventh.

Paul Goldschmidt had a two-run single in the fourth and now has a total of 1,101 RBI.

The Rays were led by Jose Siri who homered twice. He had a 429 foot two-run homer in the second.

 

Mets 4, Cubs 3

The New York Mets edged the Chicago Cubs 4-3 Wednesday.

The Mets' Pete Alonso hit a home run and Jeff McNeil had a shot that broke a tie. 
Christopher Morel homered to left in the first inning for the Cubs. Seiya Suzuki had a triple and scored on a passed ball in the second then homered in the ninth.

The Cubs had the bases loaded in the ninth but Mets' Phil Bickford got Ian Happ to swing for a strikeout to end the frame and got the save for the Mets.
