Cubs Edge Mets, Rays Down Cardinals, MLB Scores

The New York Mets stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead. Things were quiet through the next two innings before the Cubs tallied a run in the fourth. With one out, Cody Bellinger hit a solo shot.
The Cubs then tied the score in the fifth. Christopher Morel drew a walk and Yan Gomes doubled him home.
What proved to be the winning run came in the eighth inning as Mike Tauchman followed up his single in the second with a solo shot.
The Cubs finished with eight hits.
Jameson Taillon went seven strong innings, allowing three hits. He didn't give up a walk and struck out seven. Adbert Alzolay got the save, throwing one inning and allowing one hit.
At Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay was on the hitting track in a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday.
The Rays put together a 12-hit attack while their pitchers were fashioning a five-hit victory.
Zach Eflin went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, no walks while striking out eight. But, he wasn't the winning pitcher. Jason Adam came on to throw one inning, allowing two walks and striking out one to improve to 3-2 on the season.
St. Louis had two home runs, both solo shots off the bats of Nolan Arenado and Willson Contreras. Lars Nootbarr added a triple and Alec Burleson a double.
